Christ the Redeemer is an Art Deco statue of Jesus Christ in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, created by French sculptor Paul Landowski and built by Brazilian engineer Heitor da Silva Costa, in collaboration with French engineer Albert Caquot. Romanian sculptor Gheorghe Leonida fashioned the face. Constructed between 1922 and 1931, the statue is 30 meters high. It is made of reinforced concrete and soapstone.

The statue weighs 635 , and is located at the peak of the 700-metre Corcovado mountain in the Tijuca National Park overlooking the city of Rio de Janeiro. A symbol of Christianity around the world, and was voted one of the New Seven Wonders of the World.

The Taj Mahal was built as a tomb for Mumtaz Mahal by her husband, the Mughal emperor Shah Jahān (reigned 1628–58). She died in childbirth in 1631, after having been the emperor’s inseparable companion since their marriage in 1612.Building of the Taj Mahal began about 1632. The mausoleum itself was completed by about 1638–39. The adjunct buildings were finished by 1643, and decoration work continued until at least 1647.

The Great Wall is a Chinese fortification built gradually to protect China from Mongol and Turkish invasions of its northern borders. Its construction began gradually from the 7th c. BC, but its current form is mainly due to the Ming Dynasty (late 14th century to early 17th century AD). The Wall extends to a total length of 8,850 km, according to a recent measurement, consisting of 6,259 km of real wall, 359 km of moat and 2,232 km of natural fortifications such as hills and rivers. It is thus the largest human structure. According to another modern measurement, the Great Wall, with all its branches, has a total length of 21,196 kilometers.

Colosseum, also known as Flavian Amphitheatre (latin: Amphitheatrum Flavium) is an oval-shaped amphitheatre which was built from 72 BC until 80 BC. during the time of Vespasian. It is in the center of Rome.In the Colosseum there were free entry races, which were organized by the emperors to increase their popularity. The races lasted a day or more. They started with comic acts and exotic animals, and ended with duels between animals and gladiators, or only between gladiators. The gladiators were prisoners of war or slaves.

The Stone of Jordan

One of the miracles of the modern world isThe Stone of Jordan. This large stone is located southwest of the ancient city and today is called Umm al-Biyara.It is about a city carved on a rock. According to the ancient Greek historian of the 4th century BC, Jerome the Cardian, the name Petra was given by the Greek merchants because the inhabitants of the city celebrated in the spring season a deity to whom they offered various goods, as a sacrifice, on a large stone. Petra around the 7th century AD, disappeared from the map and remained in obscurity for more than 1.700 years, until it was discovered by the Swiss explorer Johanness Burckhardt in 1812.Since 1985 is considered a UNESCO World Heritage Site.The whole city of Petra with its buildings is carved on rocks and is a living monument of an admirable civilization. The architecture of the city has a strong influence of the Greeks and Romans, especially the latter who after conquering it wanted to leave the mark of their power in this corner of their empire. The best preserved buildings are the treasury(Hazne Pharaoh) with a facade of 40 meters, the Monastery, the Roman theater with a capacity of 15000 people, the baths and the shopping street.

The Brandenburg Gate in the center of Berlin used to be the gate of the city, while today it is the most recognizable symbol of the German capital. The building is located in Pariser Square. The portal is connected with many important events in the history of Germany, but also in world history, especially of the 20th century. It is a neoclassical building, reminiscent of the Propylea of the Acropolis of Athens.

The Brandenburg Gate was built between 1788 and 1791 and during the reign of Friedrich Wilhelm II of Prussia. During World War II the main body of the Gate had been destroyed by oil gunfire. The monument needed to be rebuilt. Both parts of Berlin, east and west took part in the reconstruction work. Work was completed on December 14, 1957.

The Great Wall of Chinais a series of fortifications that were built across the historical northern borders of ancient Chinese states and Imperial China as protection against various nomadic groups from the Eurasian Steppe. Several walls were built from as early as the 7th century BC, with selective stretches later joined together by Qin Shi Huang (220–206 BC), the first emperor of China. Little of the Qin wall remains. Later on, many successive dynasties built and maintained multiple stretches of border walls. Apart from defense, other purposes of the Great Wall have included border controls, allowing the imposition of duties on goods transported along the Silk Road, regulation or encouragement of trade and the control of immigration and emigration. Furthermore, the defensive characteristics of the Great Wall were enhanced by the construction of watchtowers, troop barracks, garrison stations, signaling capabilities through the means of smoke or fire, and the fact that the path of the Great Wall also served as a transportation corridor.
