  • Nihilism. Because the characters seem like not caring about anything, about their lives.
  • Smother. That sense of suffocation was always present in the play.
  • Condescending Tone. I sense this patronising tone between this thing called "friendship", which leads us to Jealousy.
  • Desire. Sex and lust are the continious loop.

This is useful because human beings only remembers perfectly the first and the last part of a process.

So we had to sit and act anxious, but the rest had to know which emotion was, and vice versa.
This was really useful for us, as performer, because we can now associate quicker, realistic emotions with kinesic.
In addition, the feeling and emotions that Jack used, were very related to our play.
We, as humans, when we are asked to act something, we tend to exaggerated. Which is not a bad thing if you are doing comedy (as Neill said one day), since something is comedic when is surrealist. But, this piece is not a comedy, but also not a realistic piece since at the end of the day is Physical Theatre. But to transmit the power of words and silence, realism creates that sense of empathy we all have (unless you are a sociopath).

Subsequently, we took this exercise to the script. And in couples we had to react to our partners lines, just with body language.

We had to be in a crouch (first position), allocate our hands in front of us and lift our feet. Stephen mention something really important about Sabrina's elbows (which are similar to mine):  Elbow hyperextension happens when your elbow joint is bent beyond its normal range of motion. This type of injury can damage the ligaments and bones of your elbow. It can also cause your elbow to dislocate.
This exercise was really useful because we had to transfer the weight while lifting our own body, and it is something very neccesary in this production, since we have almost 5 lifts in the play.

But we could just the idea, and represent the water with blue balloons. Producing the ilusion of aqua, but as we know, it is actually "no water". By definition, stretching is movement of a joint or muscle to full extension by lengthening the tissues. The affects and benefits of stretching are numerous.
  •  Increases the Range of Motion, which is an very relevant hability for phisical theatre, since is based on exploring our bodies, to have a clear uderstanding of our limits.
  • Injury Prevention, by logic, if someone has an injury because of the lack of stretches it won´t only affect directly to the damaged person, it will also affect the rest, since we are a company.

  • Flexibility and stamina, flexibility is very important (concreteky) in this play. It makes our body more fluid, like "water".
After the stretches, we showed Jack our progres with the piece. This was useful for her to know how to continue, and for us, since we used that time to refine our movements with accuracy.

Subsequently, since I wasn´t in the followig scenes, I started learning my lines. Which I think is one of my best skills as a performer since I can memorize words very quickly.
I asked my colleague Celine to listen to me while I say my lines:

"Yes, you´ve got it", she said. So in response of this feedback I started focusing in how I would say those lines, interlacing some of the actions from the last homework I was given last week (Emotions and Expresions) to think about my range of possibilities.

Eventually, in terms of problem solving, when we were rehearsing the opening scene, I came from drinking water, and my class have started, so instead of going to where I should have started (interrumpting everyone) I improvised a fluid movement to get to my position, and continue the rehearsal.

So, generalizing a little I could say I found 5 types of people.
  •  Groups of students leaded by a teacher or guide. Who were congregating in a cluster. Which was a chaos, but an organized chaos, since we could how the same conduct of proxemics between each one was juxtaposed with the distance between pieces of art. It realy mad me think about the formation structure.
  • People who were appreciating the art.
  • People who were saying "I´ve literally done that when I was 5"
  • Security stuff who were nice.
  • Security stuff who were not nice.
Everyone, except some students were walking slow, stoping in each piece of art. And the majority were at leats with someone else.

 Although I have chosen the first one because as I said in the lesson:
  "When we put so much effort in a rehearsal, at the end of the day, you get satisfied from the progress we made"
 
 Hearing the different quotes, was very useful because it made me think about being a performer by giving me more motivation to keep doing what I like.
 Zack choose "Shut up, and just act" which is something we kept saying during the lesson, because my classmates tend to talk instead of trying. And as Stephen says "time is really important".
 In response to that, I'm completely  agree since we have only 3 weeks for our FMP performance, and we are progressing very slowly.
 To solve this problem, we could just shut up, act and be professional. Because I know that when wen all are concentrated in our tasks, we start working at a very fast pace.
 And that's our aim for next week.
 
 Stephen also brought a book and read to us an extract 
 
  Later on we were asked to walk through the space as we were in an art gallery, I found this very easy since I have been twice to Tate Modern recently, to look at people, and understand their comportments. So I just had to imitate them.
During this exercise Stephen randomly gave us a poker card, and in response to that we had to act with the same energy as the value of it.
This created a juxtaposition between the relationship with she, and made me think about:  Who am I to she? Since I am just Narrator E, and I am just telling the story.
So I thought about the exercise I have done with Jack yesterday, when I had to assign 2 adjectives for my character; observant and skeptical. And I add that by looking at She (crossing the space) only with my head, instead of turning my body completely around.
 Subsequently, we have done a run through of Scene 6 to remember it and start refining the details. I am not in that scene so I decided to start writing this reflection because I want to use my time wisely.

Subsequently we were asked to choose a sentence of our own character in the play, so while we walking through the space we had to individually clap and set the moment before the chosen line, and say it.
I have chosen: “And Sally turns green, and Sally turns grey, and there’s a drip dip drip stuck everywhere”
When I normally deliver this line I look at the audience, so during this exercise I decided to look at everyone who were staring at me, this created a contrast, that built tension, and I liked it.

Subsequently, we were asked to practise how we are going to organise the scenes of the film of Scene 9, and record it.

Finally, we started to rehearse scene 7, to refine movements making a clean and clear blocking.
It is something to really work on since the audience is around us.

What went well:
The blocking was clearer than last time, and the transition got really fluid and clear.

I have drawn a storyboard based on Zachs idea of Scene 9.
The storyboard is essentially a series of vignettes that order the narration of the facts.
 
It is used as planning before filming scenes and sequences. It determines the type of frame and the angle of vision that is going to be used, that is, all the elements that will appear later in the video, including the movements that will be made by means of indicative arrows.
 
When planning a video, the storyboard helps us so that the client can have a previous idea of what the final result will be like, because it shows a flat to flat representation of it.

I decided to introduce my piece of writing with the song "Time after time - Cindy Lauper" because it is an 80s song, which we could associate it with the past and it also has a relation with my text.

This song is quite emotional, but in my opinion, has a funny rythm which makes me want to dance.
I wanted to include this actual paradox of the song, by creating another one, contrasting the creepy environment with this music, to create a contradistinction.

Compare to other performances, I have realised that my diction has improved.
The biggest challenge was to break the metrical rythm of my piece of creative writing to sound more realistic and also keep focused on the sound while I was performing.
In my opinion, I could handle it because I have been rehearsing multiple times, and re-adjusting the SVX.

It was very challenging since there was always outdoors sounds, that interfered with the recording, so I had to control the situation multiple times by making the performers repeat what they have said.

Problem solving
There was a problem with the tripod, it did not tilt, I could only pan. And the performers had different heights, so I fixed that by changing the chair.

During this warm up we have done squats repeatedly.
Squats obviously help to build our leg muscles (including your quadriceps, hamstrings, and calves), but they also create an anabolic environment, which promotes body-wide muscle building.
This helpful for us when performing because it gives us strenght to be prepared for constant and durable rehersals.
In addition, doing this type of exercise will decrease  muscular fatigue while we are lifting our classmates during the rehearsals.

Subsequently, Tyon led the vocal warm up.
Having  a vocal warm up before rehearsals helps me while delivering my lines.
I am a person who normally speaks very quite, and I only realise when I raise my voice, something I do during this vocal warm up´s.
This helps me in terms of projection and diction, since we also do loads of tongue twisters.

In response of this feedback I started thinking about the Gaga Techinique to connect with my inner beast by expanding and contracting our body, creating geometric figures.
In addition, Gaga Technique is very useful to improve improvisation by leading different parts of our body to follow a consecutive direction.

So today I came 1 hour before lesson to talk about projection.
He said that some parts should be cut, and if I could put an old filtter on it.
So I fixed all the problems, adjusting the music, transitions, and key moments with Adobe Premiere Pro.

During the matinee performance, the blocking was not very clear, so we decided to reblock by being aware of the space. The cause of this was because we were probably nervous since it was our first show.
