There have been many occasions when I feel like I've spent too much time on a device and I'm trying to be more mindful of it. The worst is when I get my phone screen time report each week and learn that my daily average typically hovers in the 4 and a half hour range. I don't know which I use more, my computer or phone. Now that I'm teaching and taking courses, I probably use my computer most. My computer screen time is almost all spent being productive, whereas my phone screen time is largely for entertainment.

I am on my devices all of the time! I primarily use my Kindle for reading, I have a gaming laptop where I've dedicated an embarrassing amount of time to playing 2D games, I watch a lot of tv on my laptop and to top it all off I need to be staring at my phone during all of this. Lately, I've been trying to do more activities that don't require a lot of internet so I've been reading physical books, playing music on my record player and practicing knitting &crocheting and I'm always baking.

This is Deanna. Mainly for me, screen time means that I am avoiding doing something else. Honestly, presently, it is usually coursework that I feel anxious about completing. I know it is counterintuitive, but sometimes I get so worked up about not doing something right that I find that playing games on my phone or computer (essentially doing nothing) makes feel better than confronting the task at hand. I know this is crazy, but hey, I never said I was anything but flawed.

I definitely feel like my screen time is much higher now than I ever remember it being. Between work, homework, group chats, recipes, and just bored scrolling, it feels too much. I know I've had too much when my eyes hurt a lot, sometimes I'll get a headache, but I think more frequently it just feels upsetting to me, because it is to check things off a list instead of enjoying it that much. Similarly to Reina, reconnecting with things I know I like to do off screens has been helpful. Knowing I'm almost done with the program is also reassuring to know one weight of this will be done soon.

I certainly spend more time on my phone than I care to admit. To mitigate it, I have my most frequently used apps set to a timer. It encourages me spend a bit less time browsing and a bit more time doing other activities.

I am 100% on screens too much. Phone, computer, tv. . . dangit. It's impossible. Work, school, social circles, games, personal interests, boredom, anything and everything. My eyesight has noticeably gotten worse, sadly. I keep looping in circles to try and use less screen time and inevitably it creeps back up in usage. I do find that setting goals like, "only able to check reddit on the weekends," helps HUGE!
