         <description><![CDATA[<ul><li>The ESERA conference is held <strong>every 2 years</strong></li><li><strong>The next conference will be next year (2023) in Cappadocia, Turkey (August 29 to September 2, 2023)</strong></li><li>ESERA ECR networking reception at the ESERA conference&nbsp;</li><li>Support for booking queer-friendly hotels (see <a href="https://www.kikijourney.com/gay-friendly-hotels-cappadocia-turkey/?fbclid=IwAR1xzuZNzyb1jB_rbvSuPYBBXlbJtLHxZlcJIPwS9tJCYL68ZxgeKC5Rqro">here</a> for an initial guide)</li><li>The deadline to apply to present at the conference (posters, presentation, symposium) is likely to open late 2022 (with a deadline of the end of January 2023)</li><li>You can attend without presenting but if you get the chance to present it's always a useful experience</li><li>Sign-up for conference attendance will be in the spring</li><li>The board is still deciding on what format the conference will take (e.g. 100% in person/hybrid)</li><li>ESERA members will get email updates about this, and you can follow ESERA on twitter: <a href="https://twitter.com/ESERA_org">@ESERA_org</a></li><li>ESERA conference scholarships especially for those coming from developing countries - registration/travel/accommodation (€10,000 available in total)</li><li>For the last conference there was also an 'emergency fund scheme' and provided extra support for conference attendance (€10,000 in total, half of this amount was provided to ECR)</li></ul>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<ul><li><strong>Every year, ESERA hosts a week-long summer school for science education PhD students</strong></li><li>Students at the summer school get to present their research (often for the first time), get supportive and friendly feedback from other students and from experienced science education researchers</li><li>During the week there’s also a poster session, lectures, workshops and social events</li><li>I really recommend!</li><li>This year’s is in Utrecht in The Netherlands from August 29 to September 3 (congrats if you're attending!)</li><li><strong>To apply for future years you write a synopsis of your PhD project, no more than 1,800 words. Deadline is end of January each year</strong>, and you hear in the spring if you have been accepted</li><li>Students should not be too near to the beginning or end of their PhD study to be able to benefit from the experience and mentorship</li><li>The student participation fee is € 400</li><li>Every other year there are 2 scholarships (2000 USD each) for two NARST PhD student members to attend the ESERA summer school (blog from past recipients <a href="https://narstgradresources.blogspot.com/2018/11/esera2018-european-summer-school-for.html">here</a>)</li></ul>]]></description>
