Click on the plus sign at the bottom of this form to add your answer. Select ONE of the documentaries you watched and write the title, as well as your APLC period. (Make sure your name shows to get credit.) Tell how you were in the dark about a certain topic regarding the documentary you chose. How did you see things differently after watching (the light--so to speak)? Answer in 3-5 well developed sentences. (I actually went through, reread, and edited my wording.) My example is highlighted in yellow.

As a white person, I can never fully understand the life of a colored person. I knew it was a problem, having met a victim myself, but i did not fully understand the extent of the issue. Even after watching this documentary, and finding article upon article about this issue, its still not a subject that sits well in someones mind. Its horrible to think about but personally I feel better knowing. I didn't understand just how much these women and men were oppressed by their attackers or commanders. It truly brings a whole new light to the idea of the military and what it actually does for its soldiers.

I connected this documentary with the cave analogy becuase it made me relize just how many people are opressed at diffrent levels within the LGBTQ+ comunity. Watching the documentary made me relize how much work still has to be done, becuase there are comunities, like transgender and gender fluid, within LGBTQ+ don't have as much protecting them or even the knowledge spread to understand. It opened my eyes to see that yes there has been progress helping the comunity and that is a good thing, but it is nowhere close to enough and people still have to be taking action.

Before watching the documentary, I didn't realize how much of our small, daily, and continuous tasks contribute to such a big issue occurring all around the globe. I have been taught about global warming and climate change, but not to an extent that small processes for human needs influence how our world is going to be in the future. After watching it, I am not only more educated, but I now see that as humans, reversing the effects of climate change are going to be very difficult. I now realize that implementing ways to change our planet lay in the hands of our future generations.

Before I watched this documentary I had an idea about cliamte change, but I didn't see how urgent and vast this problem really is. It really opened my eyes by physically showing the change and showing the ways we can contribute to fixing this problem. This not only made me aware of the issues in our society as a whole, but my mistakes as an individual as well. This has changed the way I veiw the world in general, I no longer takes it's beauty for granted because I know our time here is limited.

Realizing how much damage we have caused is a huge eye opener. Now that I know the consequences of throwing away different plastics, I try to make this earth a little cleaner by spreading awareness of the issue and trying to make a change for the better.

I didn't know the things that the LGBT community was going through until i watch this beautiful and real document and watched what was happening and seeing how i was ignoring anything and anybody else shed the light on my brain and the way I think. What is this was my sister or brother. So now I take up people are being bullied because everybody deserves to live on this earth in peace.

I learned a lot about the governments deliberate but hidden racism against black people and using excuses like war on drugs or stereotyping black people as criminals. there is still a lot to be learned about this topic, and the documentary has allowed me to be even more educated and take it upon myself to learn more.

Before watching this documentary I knew there were a lot of issues, and injustices within the systematic racism. I actually thought to be pretty educated on the topic, because I had done some research. After watching this documentary I came out understanding the history, and events that lead to such extreme circumstances. That the systematic racism is truly backed up with a factual basis, and that it is truly disgusting. Even with the research I had done. I realized there was still so much more that I learned and more that I can learn.

After watching this documentary, I understand that even in the military, these hateful crimes still happen in society and that people need other people to be their voice when they feel like they have none.

I preferred to live in ignorance, knowing that if I watched this documentary, I would become extremely aware of my brain's health, and the lasting effects of playing the sport that I loved. I've become much more aware of the risk I'm taking to participate in soccer, and I've become more careful in the ways I deal with heading the ball, and keeping my balance. I know about the lies and bad reps that companies such as the NFL tell to keep their company alive. I thought I knew what I needed to know, but now I know much more, and I know what kind of person and player I want to be.
