•Led by Max Wertheimer, these guys focused not on how we feel, but on how we experience the world.
*The whole of an experience can be more than the sum of its parts.
• Gestalt: a movement in psychology that was founded in Germany in 1912, that explained perceptions in terms of gestalts rather than by observing their constituents.
- The Gestalt psychologists looked at the totality of the mind and behavior.
- He purchased a toy stroboscope which showed pictures in a fast sequence to copy the appearing movement. Max got the idea of this approach because of this experience.
- There were two other psychologists who took part in finding this approach. One was Kurt Koffka he had different interests and studied a variety of topics like learning, perceptions, and hearing impairments. Another was Wolfgang Kohlar who was known for his research on problem-solving and introspection.

• During this time period (early to mid 1900's) people started to ignore how you feel inside.
•All that mattered was how you acted.
• If you could change your behavior, who cares how you feel.
• Very popular during the conservative 1950s when social appearance mattered more than self expression.
-Watson promoted a change in psychology through his address psychology as the Behaviorist sees it.
-Behaviorism: this is also known as the psychological approach.
