         <title>When I was in high school I attended a Upward Bound program in Colorado where even me as a Native American student received a major culture shock. This was the first time that my eyes truly opened up to the world and diversity. That summer in one of my creative writing courses we participated in a debate of terms: American Indian v. Native American. This was when I truly learned the meaning of indigenous. Of course for me, Native American culture is my first thought, but indigenous cultures change and vary based on the location and beliefs of the people. </title>
