Even though I'm actually currently in Vienna, I'm from Berlin - born and raised :)

A big part of our economy is either energy or car industry-related. Since Covid started there have been many disruptions and changes in both industries esp. due to supply chain disruptions. I remember specifically that there was an issue with some tech 'chips' that go in cars that we usually source from China. Due to the pandemic, many manufacturers weren't able to get them and productions were frozen or delayed.
Even though this may have changed since the beginning of the pandemic, supply chains are still fragile and we need to invest more in supply chain resilience and management to improve overall international trade.

The covid-19 pandemic has deeply affected Brazil, mainly due to the drop in exports, the increase in the price of raw materials. Giving an example here in my city, Florianópolis/SC, the covid-19 pandemic affected a lot mainly because it is a tourist city, so tourism simply stopped because of the pandemic when the public calamity was decreed. I, who worked in the area, was fired because my company had to reduce costs, after all was not producing. Because of that, I had to move, look for another job, it was very difficult. Currently the situation has improved a lot, the hope is that it will continue evolving until tourism, and so many other areas that were not mentioned but were also as affected, return 100%.

However, contrary to popular belief, I don't think that international trade has really suffered from the COVID-19 crisis and I think that international value chains have generally functioned well in Belgium. It is rather the companies within the internal market that have suffered greatly from the national measures. Even though this crisis had a huge impact on our lives at all levels, and as a young person, especially on the social level, but my life is now generally back to normal.

My name is Camille Warscotte, I am 22 years old. I study Management Sciences with a major in marketing in Belgium. The city where I live is located in Belgium and it is called Namur. The covid has changed international trade in Belgium because there have been changes in consumer habits. For example, Belgian companies realised that many things, such as meetings, could be done online, so they reduced travel abroad. Air travel is therefore less favoured than before, and this sector has suffered a lot as a result of the pandemic. Belgium was also affected by many product shortages during the pandemic, as many of its suppliers are in Asia, so there is now talk of favouring local suppliers more. In terms of changes in my personal life, I would say that I use technology a lot more to do group work for example. We used to think that we always had to meet in person to work together, but now I favour calls through Teams or Zoom, which are very effective tools.
