With Peter being one worst possible options for a mentor and Miles being in over his head, the two had a lot of room to learn from each other. Because of this, they were able to grow to be their best selves together. They do this while exibiting great chemistry that makes their relationship the heart of the film.

Which is why the freshness of this film is s pleasent surprise. Focusing on Miles's Spider-Man is a big contributor to this having altered the over all feel of the superhero. As well as, the film's way of going through each character's origin story. Each origin was fast paced and self-aware of the audience having heard Spider-Man's origin many times before.

One of the most recongnizable parts of Spider-Man is his youthful energy and optimism. So when we see the old, tired version of him, it is a jarring experience. While Peter B. Parker is the source for a lot of the comedy in the film, it is nice to see a version of Spider-Man that lost his way and is still able to redeem himself. His character is hopeful in a much more relatable way then the normal depiction of the Spider-Man character.
