Massachusetts actually have three nicknames the first being,The Old Colony State because of its history in the thirteen colonies which has many historic scenes like the boston tea party which samuel adams and john hancock and there other members in the sons of liberty went to numerous ships and chucked there tea off the boat because of the tea act because boston many things happened like the closing of boston after the affair. You might be wondering how did they get on. Most got off the doc wearing mohawk indian costumes and destroyed all the tea on the ship. Another nickname is the bay state because of the Cap cod bay an -d,the final one is the codfish state because they say the fish is there civic pride of the state. This was also labeled in the 1700's
