Natural Gas

Natural gas is a fossil energy source and is a non-renewable energy source. That is formed deep beneath the earth's surface. Natural gas contains many different compounds. Which makes it the most cleanest burning fossil fuel ever. Natural gas can cause many bad things. Like, polluting the streams. Also, one of the biggest downfall is, that to harness its energy you have to extract everything except methane. Did you know if there is a leak in the operation, then the plant is a bomb waiting to explode? Though, a good side of Natural gas is that its easily transported. In my opinion, Natural gas is not the best, because not only is it dangerous, its very expensive.

Links:
Natural gas prices are rising and could be the most expensive in 13 years this winter (cnbc.com)

Wind Power

Wind power uses the wind to make electricity. Wind turbines convert the kinetic energy in the wind into electrical power. Wind Power does not cause pollution or green house gases. It is a inexhaustible Energy source so, we will never run out power, when we use these. Wind Power is also, less costly that makes it a very good option for many people. The more people use Wind Power, so more jobs open up which is another advantage. Now, for some dis-advantage. It can impact wildlife, because they can fly into the turbines and die. That's why its important to find a safe location to put the turbines. There is also all the noise. Wind turbines can make a lot of noise, that means keeping people from sleeping. Like before, that's why you need to pick a good location for the turbines. Overall, this is a great energy source.

Links:
How Do Wind Turbines Work? | Department of Energy

Solar Power

Solar power is energy from the sun that is converted into electrical energy. Solar power can harness this energy for a generating electricity. It is a inexhaustible Energy source so, we will never run out power. Solar power can be used anywhere in the world, even in the most remote locations on earth. That's one of the biggest advantages in solar power. Also, Solar power produces no pollution into the air or land. Just like wind solar power provides jobs too. Though it's biggest dis -advantage is that its very costly. Keep in mind that installing solar panels takes up a lot of space. It may cost a lot to install but, you can also save a lot when its in action. I guess about that little topic its always going to be like a seesaw. It's also very reliable.

Links:
Solar Panels

Advantages & Disadvantages of Solar Energy

Nuclear Power

Nuclear power is a pretty clean and efficient way of making steam by boiling water. Which turns the turbines to make electricity. It's one of the most low-carbon energy source . It's not as costly as you think. It's actually not that costly. You'll find this source of energy pretty reliable. It also, has a High energy density. It does have a handful of dis advantages. It has a huge environmental impact. The waste that remains is radioactive, which again makes a huge environmental impact. Also, most importantly, it a non-rewinbale energy source, so one day we will run out of it. There is a risk of nuclear accidents. So, overall it gets a rating of 4 from me.

Links:

Nuclear Energy Pros and Cons
(solarreviews.com)

More Nuclear Power Isn’t Needed.

Hydropower, is a renewable energy source that generates power by using a dam to use the flow of water as a energy source. This energy source may sound good but, it has quite the dis-advantages. Like it has a environmental impact, displaces people, s expensive, causes droughts, and it's not safe. There is a good reason not to chose this source, it has a lot of dis-advantages. That gives me a bad idea in my head. But, after that its still reliable. It may be expensive to builds but in the end you get low electricity bills. So, overall, it gets a 6 from me.

Links:
Hydropower Basics | Department of Energy

A New Vision for United States Hydropower | Department of Energy
