- national youth councils are experienced - let´s use them]]> 2022-01-24 14:22:50 UTC https://padlet.com/lajtha/w936xiy6okhuaqoq/wish/2008877437 To answer the question: what can the climate pact do to reach more young people? https://padlet.com/lajtha/w936xiy6okhuaqoq/wish/2008881707 As the Danish Youth Delegate and representative of several smaller-scale youth organisations, I believe that the Commission must  reform the Erasmus+ platform, and create a related, very clear communication strategy regarding on how it can support young people in the initiatives. 

This reform of the Erasmus+ funding platform and system would be a combination of keeping the existing possibilities, but also reaching other organisations that are now outside the reach of the Erasmus+ platform. 

It would very useful to create an easily accessible platform (or revise the existing) where small organisations and individual persons can apply for small-scale funding opportunities. 

The platform itself is as of today very user-friendly, and it is easy to search for tenders and calls for projects - thank you for that. However, the application criteria are, sometimes what leads to many smaller civil society organisations to not be able to carry out projects.

This revision of the Erasmus+ application criteria should ideally try to remove the barriers that are inevitable in the current system, where the lengthy and complicated applications forms have rather harsh funding conditions. 

The intentions of the already existing on the Erasmus+ platform are great, but the actual possibilities of applying for a project successfully are very limited when it comes to smaller scale voluntary / civil society organisations. Moreover, sometimes it can be difficult to find the required partners, if the nature of the project is smaller.

 The same goes for the report and evaluation process after a given project has been finalised. A simpler, more small-scale system would allow smaller youth organisations, who do not have full time employees to do the extensive administrative and funding work, but are driven people who want to make a change, to positively impact the European civic space by allowing small yet effective initiatives to flourish.

Maybe, as an alternative, there could be a new section on the Erasmus+ platform called "Smaller initiatives" or "small-scale applications" (or similar). In this way, the larger, very good and extensive platform that already exists can continue to be used by larger organisations, but at the same time, a new platform could be created for small-scale initiatives to take form. - for instance projects on the European Climate Pact! 

In conclusion, it's all about simplicity, awareness and communication. As long as the process is simple, relatively easy and transparent - and does not impose larger, economic burdens on a given organisation - smaller and young people can truly get involved in the European Climate Pact as well as other relevant themes.
