Mission: Research Cafe was created from a desire to shift our campus culture around research from being "intimidating and inaccessible" to being welcoming and inviting to students of all backgrounds and experience levels.

What We Do: Every 1st Friday of the month, we order coffee and doughnuts and invite students into our office space to hang out, eat, and talk to others with an interest in research. We invite our Undergraduate Research Leaders and other groups of current undergrad researchers to attend the event and serve as informal peer mentors to those who attend. The researchers we invite wear name tags that say "Ask me about research!" to signal to other students that they are willing to answer any questions.

Results: Over 200 students have attended Research Cafe since we launched the event in October 2022. It is our most highly attended event each month. We found that the event is popular with students of all years, with 1st/2nd year students coming to seek information and 3rd/Higher students coming excited to share their experiences.
