The song 'Colors of the Wind' is one of the songs that I find meaningful and relevant in understanding the relationship between human beings and Mother Earth. The lyrics strike a strong yet gentle reminder for us, humans, that Earth doesn't belong to us but rather we belong to the Earth. From my chosen definition of art based on the slides, this song really does give form to the world and articulates human nature, sensibility, and mortality. Through this song, it sends an impactful message to the listeners about our role as humans, our actions towards nature, and the connection we have to all the life forms around us.

This is what art is for. It is how we translate the world. It conveys a message, it moves people, and it inspires action.

- Art as "expression." This concept of art is what I believe is true. Art is one's expression. We must remember that art is for the artist. What we create is a product of our thoughts, ideas, emotions, and creativity. And when we share our art with the world, we are lucky enough if people can resonate with what we put into it.

This 'expression' also relates to the artistic process in a way that it gives a unique "mark" that is akin to the artist only. For example, by looking at Claude Monet's paintings, we already know that it is his work because of his art style and his way of expressing his art through impressionism.

Art as representation and art as expression are two different things. Representation is creating something in your artwork that represents or symbolizes something. It is through representation we get to have hidden meanings and interpretations of an artwork. Meanwhile, art as expression comes from the artists themselves; how do they want to deliver their art— do they express it through a song? through a painting? or through dancing? It is how they want to express those representations that they want to put in their art.

5. If art is defined within the ambit of “aesthetics,” whether as “aesthetic object,” or “aesthetic experience,” how is art viewed from this perspective?

- If art is solely defined for aesthetics, then you're stripping away the purpose of art; its purpose to represent, to express, to connect, and to tell stories. Art is not only made to please our eyes but it is also made to please our souls.

Science and technology are not only the vital components of our society but also the arts and humanities. Arts and humanities are what we live for. Dalisay said that through these things, we understand and appreciate the experiences of others. It is through arts we are able to engage in human experience may it be with ourselves, with others, or with life itself. Arts should matter to everyone even to people who immerse themselves in the field of science, mathematics, and technology. Arts and humanities provide a vision, while science and technology provide the means to attain this vision. They go hand-in-hand.
