Include 5-10 thumbnail sketches showing your visual analysis of some of the prints you have chosen

This should be a series of pages that documents (both visually and in annotation) the process of producing a two-colour screen print, from design through to final print.

The emphasis should be on what you learnt, the problems faced and how you resolved them.

In roughly this order, stick in the following;

·         Your template/design – the design you drew on tracing paper

·         A plain black print

·         Your best 2 colour print

·         Your worst print and alongside it, an analysis of what went wrong (using the screen printing worksheet to help you with the vocab)

·         Make some visual inks to artists showing your understanding of negative space, simplified design etc

Patrick Caulfield is a good artist to make links to and he also made a lot of prints in black and grey

Keep your write-up visual. There is no need to write a vast amount, it's what you say and how you reflect on the development of your own work that counts.

Remember to caption your images (artist/title/date) and at the bottom of the page, write down the website or book reference.

Some prompts:

How did you use the negative space to define the main subject of your image?

What do you think makes an effective screen print design?

Did you adapt your design at all as you went along – i.e did you adapt your grey stencil? 

What sort of technical problems occurred? E.g. the printing ink pooling on the screen, bleeding of the ink through parts of your stencil, mis-registration/areas not lining up, areas with no ink where the pressure wasn’t firm enough or the screen got blocked.
