한국민속대백과사전에 의하면, 공기놀이는 ‘공기라고 불리는 놀잇감을 손으로 던져서 받고 쥐면서 노는 놀이’이다. 이와 유사한 놀이로 ‘잭스’ 또는 ‘너클본’이라 불리는 놀이들이 있다. 놀잇감을 구하기 쉽고 놀이 방법이 비교적 간단하여 오래전부터 여러 나라에서 놀았던 것으로 추측된다.

First, Gonggi game is not a traditional game which is unique to Korean, but a game enjoyed by children around the world. I think it is attractive because it is a game enjoyed in various countries.

Second, I think that the fact that Gonggi game can be enjoyed with simple materials, which are easily available around us, such as stones, animal bones, and seashells, is an advantage compared to other traditional games.  

Third, there are various ways to play Gonggi game depending on the country or region, and we can choose and enjoy the play method according to our ability or level. This fact is interesting for me.

Finally, I have a good memory of playing Gonggi game with my friends when I was a child. Unlike other traditional games, it was a game that we could easily experience. My experience and memory of this game have me interested in it.

내가 한국의 전통놀이 중 공기놀이에 관심을 갖게 된 데는 몇 가지 이유가 있다.

첫째, 공기놀이는 한국만의 전통놀이가 아니라 전 세계 어린이들이 즐기는 놀이이다. 나는 공기놀이가 다양한 나라에서 즐기는 게임이기 때문에 매력적이라고 ​​생각한다.

둘째, 공기놀이가 돌, 동물뼈, 조개껍데기 등 우리 주변에서 쉽게 구할 수 있는 간단한 재료로 놀이를 즐길 수 있다는 점이 다른 전통놀이에 비해 장점이라고 생각한다.

셋째, 국가나 지역에 따라 다양한 방법으로 공기놀이를 즐길 수 있으며, 우리는 자신의 능력이나 수준에 따라 놀이방법을 선택하여 즐길 수 있다. 이 사실은 나에게 흥미롭다.

마지막으로, 나는 어렸을 때 친구들과 함께 공기놀이를 하던 좋은 기억이 있다. 다른 전통놀이들과는 달리 공기놀이는 우리가 쉽게 체험할 수 있는 게임이었다. 이 공기놀이에 대한 나의 경험과 기억은 내가 그것에 관심을 갖게 했다.
