Poverty and A Scuba Diving Company

My definition of social change is when the social norm changes. In this case it is poverty.

For example it is normal for Jamaica to be in poverty as it has been this way since 1814. Jamaica was the richest country in the British Empire and is now the second poorest country in the Caribbean. The two richest people in the world at the time were living there and Social Scientists have been trying to figure this out for decades. No one know exactly why Jamaica suddenly got so poor. If we aren't careful then whatever caused this country to go bankrupt could happen to another country. People don't deserve to live in poverty that they didn't cause and most people are not able to escape it.

I love to explore the ocean, I love the marine life, I like to swim. The best combination of these things is scuba diving and I love to do that too. I also like helping people, I could build a career off these passions to make a company that teaches people to scuba dive and takes them on excursions. I can tie this in with the problem of poverty by giving a percentage of the money I make to poverty stricken countries. Also if I make enough I will visit the countries and take some of the people on free diving trips or just swimming with animals. This will give some of the people hope to try even harder to make a better living in the country and try to hep everyone else in it.

http://jamaica-gleaner.com/gleaner/20140305/cleisure/cleisure2.html
