Stars are far, far away</strong></p><ol><li><p>The light from a star has to travel a very long way to reach your eyes.&nbsp;</p></li><li><p><br></p><p><strong>2. Earth's atmosphere is like a wavy curtain</strong></p><p>Before the starlight gets to you, it passes through the layers of air that surround our planet.&nbsp;</p></li><li><p><br></p><p><strong>3. Light gets bent</strong></p><p>When light passes from one thing to another (like from space into the air), it can bend. .&nbsp;</p></li></ol><p><br></p><p><mark>Middle:</mark></p><p> the star wiggles and bends through the atmosphere, it looks like the star is moving or changing brightnessThat’s what makes it look like the star is twinkling!          <description><![CDATA[<p>Introduction:</p><p>In simple terms, twinkling of stars is caused by the passing of light through different layers of a turbulent atmosphere.</p><p><br/></p><p>1 </p><p>Atmospheric Turbulence</p><p>Our atmosphere is not a calm, uniform layer. It's constantly in motion, with pockets of hot and cold air mixing and swirling. This "turbulence" creates varying densities and temperatures.&nbsp;</p><p><br/></p><p>2</p><p>Light Refraction</p><p>As the light from a distant star enters our atmosphere, it encounters these turbulent pockets of air. Because air of different temperatures and densities has different refractive indices, the light bends,</p><p><br/></p><p>3 </p><p>Vast Distance and Point-Source Light:</p><p>Stars are incredibly far away, appearing to us as tiny, single points of light.
