Welcome to our introduction course to sustainability. We (Mirjam and me) hope we can inspire and activate you to contribute to a better world.

1. Who am I

2. My work
I am one of the founders of SOW Sustainability (sow-sustainability.com) and we help organisations to become (more) sustainable and future proof.

We do this by:
- inspiring and training employees on sustainablity and sustainable leadership
- facilitating organisation to create a sustainable strategy that seamlessly matches the DNA of the organisation
- helping organisation to implement and merge the strategy within the core business (interim sustainability coaching)

4. Sustainable innovation
What I think is needed for sustainable innovation are intrinsically motivated people who dare to think outside the box and who focus on what is possible.

I get energy from doing this together with many others so that everyone can make a difference from their own point of view. 
That is why I do this by presenting, facilitating trainings, workshops and working on projects in which employees of companies taking these steps themselves.

Together with Jacklien I founded the label SOW (www.sow-sustainability.com) (read Jacklien's introduction for more info). Part of SOW are courses and so is this introductory course.

For me, to encourage sustainable innovations it boils down to 2 things: 
1. DOING ("Yes, and...", instead of "No, because..."), don't wait for someone else or something else but just try it and do it differently. 
2. This is Tahnee, I'll be your moderator for this online course about sustainability. So cool that you're joining us to learn more and take action on urgent issues in today's society, like climate change and social inequality. 

I'm a team member at SOW, the awesome label that made this course and will work with your organization to set up a killer sustainability strategy. My colleague Jacklien wrote more about what we do at SOW in her intro. 

Besides my work as a sustainability expert, I work as a politician at the local government of Amsterdam, which is also where I live. In my work there, I also focus a lot on both social and environmental sustainability.

I'm a climate activist, because of my love for nature and all that live on this planet. 💚

We're part of a large ecosystem that we're currently destroying. I think it's super important that we rethink our relationship with nature, as human beings. I think we've really lost that connection of what it means to be part of this large ecosystem and I absolutely love that my work is dedicated around bringing that connection back. Whether that's through protecting nature in policy making, or helping organizations like yours become more sustainable.

In order to stimulate sustainable innovations, I think first of all collaboration is necessary. Being the only one recycling is going to make a small dent, doing it together is much more effective. Also I think it's important to become aware about how much we compliment non-sustainable behavior ("New sweater? 2. Ik werk als Office manager bij Euflex BV. Ik ondersteun de directeur van Euflex als ook de overige medewerkers binnen het bedrijf in de breedste zin van het woord. Van het maken van afspraken, verlof- en verzuimregistratie tot het crediteurenbeheer.
3. Het is momenteel erg actueel en vind het een goed initatief dat Leo er op bedrijfsniveau ook aandacht aan wil geven. Ook in de privé sfeer speelt duurzaamheid een actuele rol bij ons thuis.
4. Cecile Gijsbers-Hamers, 58 years old, live in Nuenen, married with Diederik and together we have 3 children ( 26-22-20 years old) all living on their own.
2. I work as a senior consultant Search and Select at Euflex since 2008. I have a background and education in Human Resource Management at Tilburg University. I started my career as an allround HR advisor at an accountants company. In the course of time I specialised in recruitment. That is my main activity at Euflex: Filling in all kinds of vacancies from managing director or business developer to commucation officer or safety officer mainly at TU/e. Several times I was seconded to a department of TU/e as an interim HR advisor. That makes my job even more inspiring and gives me the opportunity to have look in the kitchen of our clients.
3.Sustainability is an important theme nowadays. I registered for this course because I wanted to learn more about this subject and get ideas what I can do myself to make the world a litlle bit better.
4. I think it starts with creating awareness for sustainable goals in a way that it inspires and motivates people to act sustainably. 2. Ik werk als backoffice medewerker bij de afdeling Euflex Technificent. We bemiddelen studenten voor bijbanen bij bedrijven buiten de TU/e.
3. Ik sta achter verduurzamen. Dit proberen we thuis ook zoveel mogelijk te doen en ons kind dit ook mee te geven. Hoe we zelf de wereld een beetje mooier en schoner kunnen maken.
4. Goed dat er steeds meer bewustwording is. We zullen in het de rijke wereld minder moeten consumeren en meer stilstaan bij hergebruik. I live in Helmond, together with my partner Jurgen. We have two children, a daughter of 27 and a son of 25. I work as a Career Counsellor in Euflex. Sustainability is an important topic for us but also for the lives of our children and grandchildren. It is important to be more aware of what we can do, and this workshop is good to enlarge awareness. Sustainable innovation means we all have to contribute and there are already a lot of initiatives.
