However, the declaration of criminal record places discrimination on an ex-offender. Before even considered as a potential candidate, he/she would be decided based on their past. The declaration of mental illness was removed a few years ago on the basis of discrimination, can this also be done for criminal record? If the safety or security for specific industry or ppl group is of paramount concern. The use of declaration can be applied on specific industries such education, finance etc. Or rephrase the question to be more specific such as "Have you been convicted in court for sexual related offences?" Or ".... fraud etc.."
