In fact writing is not just transferring thoughts on the paper. But writing can be perceived as transferring thoughts to paper. My observations; this can be boring for the students. When thinking and writing use together, it can be more effectivitly for them. Just one-way writing may not be effective and efficient. Writing for think has a two-way flow. Writing is very important in acquairina and consolidating knowledge. It may be helpful for teacher to see the process of students thinking as well as showing their preconceptions.

I use writing, but I'm not sure if it is Writing to Learn.
I ask my students to write where in real life math is used. Each of student is given a specyfic area, that is math in: music, fashion, biology, chemistry, politics, psychology etc.

Nowadays, our students are losing the habit of writing, especially of explaining what they have acquired, and this is really a deficiency that I am seeing with great regret. I do not use much to have my pupils write and so far I have limited myself to explaining what are the steps to follow in order to write a scientific report correctly, but I have used so little this form of evaluation, which I will certainly increase in the future.

It is certainly very important that pupils get used to always writing down everything they think, understand or want to understand. they must also be able to go back to compare what they thought before and what they think now, after the inquiry activities

While I was listening to Dr. Gunel inteview I realized that WtoL is my basic approach to any kind of learning and production.
I also realized the great difficulty, even a reluctance, of many students in writing their own feelings and ideas.
They generally prefer the oral expression arguing that it has the same value and effects.
Now I can explain them that the value of oral and writing may be the same, but their effects are, likely, remarkably different.

The exercise of writing in science is a way to forced students think about what and how they want to say. However, in my experience, students found it very hard, and it’s difficult to make them aware that they have to reread what they have written, as many times as necessary, in order the text to make sense. Most of the times, they write as they think.
