Major: Mass Communication
I have always known that I was blessed, but completing this exercise highlights some of those blessings. I actually was able to obtain a bachelor's degree without ever taking out a student loan. In fact, in some semesters, I was actually paid to go to class based on Pell Grant and various scholarships, I was receiving monies in excess of what was required. So that cost went from $0 in the early 90s to well over $100K for tuition, books, room & board for that same degree 30 years later.

I actually have no idea, it's been a while. I went to community college for my lower division classes. I don't remember how much it cost in total for the upper division but I worked, applied for scholarships, then got loans for the rest.

Honestly I have no idea either; I started at CC too and took a few semesters off. My institution would currently cost $69,444 for 4 years, and of course that's not counting textbook, parking, etc.

Total was about $65,000 with $40,000 in loans and $25,000 in grants. Today is probably $10-$15 thousand more. It really has become impossible for many students to take on this burden of debt.

Current cost about $11k per year in tuition and fees for a B.S. in California at a State University. About $30k total if you include housing and other expenses. I thought it was very reasonable actually, even now. You can choose cheaper housing, sharing rooms, etc. if you want to save money.
