Why should jury duty be taken more seriously?

As we saw in 12 Angry Men, a lot of times, people can not take jury duty seriously. But what people can fail to realize or simply not care about, is that in any case, a person's future is at stake. In 12 Angry Men it was not only the boy's future, but his LIFE, in the jurors members hands. Jury duty should not be taken lightly because it's simply not. Juries are a very serious, real role that U.S. citizens play in America's court system and should be treated as such.

There are two types of juries, trial juries, and grand juries. Trial juries are made up of 6-12 people and are sworn to give verdicts in civil and criminal cases of guilty or not guilty or in favor of the plaintiff or defendant. Grand juries are made up of 16-23 and determine whether there is probable cause to put someone on trial for a crime.
