Question 1
Although the lack of kindness can lead to unkindness, we think that the lack of kindness shouldn't need to cause unkindness because showing kindness to others will reflect kindness back to you.

Question 2
In Mr. Tushman's speech, he says that little acts of kindness, that are more than necessary, will go a long way and if everyone did the same then the world would become a better place.

Question 3
Julian's parents believe that because their kids have got into the elite school, they are better than the average child. Though they are entitled to believe in their children in such a way, it doesn't excuse their unkind behaviour towards others.

Question 5
Though it is good that Charlotte acknowledged
him at the start, it is bad that she doesn't bother to support him or "hang out" with him. She is too full of her self to bother with August and is fairly self-centred. She is too focus on her social status than what is right.

Activity

1. August has low self-esteem as he compares himself with lesser lifeforms. He kind of brings himself down.

2. At school, Olivia will get unwanted attention and sympathy while at home August will get all the attentions. Also, your friendships might suffer because they could find it "weird" or "scary" and not want to be friends anymore or come to your house.

3. We think that August needs to understand that other people may see him differently and that he should not be offended as easily.

4. August has OAV spectrum. It is also in TCOF1 gene.

5. Other kids were repulsed by August and Summer knew this, she became the bigger person and sat with him.

6. links to Natalie Merchant's song 'Wonder'
https://www.google.com.au/search?q=fate+smiled+and+destiny+laughed+as+she+came+to+my+cradle+lyrics&rlz=1CALEAI_enAU797&oq=fate+smiled+and+destiny+laughed+as+she+came+to+my+cradle+lyrics&aqs=chrome..69i57j0.37374j0j7&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8

Questions

1. Medical science plays a major part in his life, without the operations, he probably wouldn't have lived as long as he already has. Medical science made living for him easier, however he still was not meant to live as long as he has so he is still living a miracle.

3. Via doesn't expand on the sad statement, 'Countless babies who'll never be born. Like mine.' because she means she wouldn't want her baby to look like August.

Activity 1:
Humour plays a very important role in helping the family to dwell in the present as opposed to the past. Humour helps the family to deal with August's medical issues and health, while releasing the tension in some pretty serious parts of the book.

Activity 2:
'Slapstick' is comedy based on deliberately clumsy actions an humorously embarrassing events.

Activity 3:
Sarcasm is found in the book when...
"Were people nice to you?"

"Yes."

"No one was mean?"

He put the PlayStation down and looked up at me as if I had just asked the dumbest question in the world.
