The Maya were a civilization that was mostly populated in southern Mexico and northern south America. They settled there around 2,000 B.C.E. When they got there a clan called the Olmec gave them ideas and soon after the Maya adopted them into their own ideas. Some of the ideas were the class structure, and agricultural techniques. The Mayan's religion consisted of 160 gods. The Maya even made a whole calendar just for religion. The Mayan calendar consisted of thirteen months with 20 days each which had 260 days. the Maya's were good at farming. The farmers had a huge task because the growing population made it harder to grow food. Luckily the farmers came up with the idea to burn trees to make more space, and they flattened out spots in the mountains to plant food.

In the year 1519 explorers came to visit Tenochtitlan and they were absolutely amazed by the city. The Aztecs were going to the valley of Mexico, and in the civilization if you saw a Eagle with a snake in it's mouth on a cactus then you had to make a city, well they found that so they created Tenochtitlan. In the middle of the city there was a town square, that town square was made for praying and religious rituals. The town also had a huge temple that had two staircases that led to two shrines where you would pray to the gods.

The Aztec Empire went to the valley of Mexico in the 1200's. They were there because they wanted an island for a home. But when they went there they got pushed back by the people who already lived there. Centuries later in 1519 the Aztec empire fell. They fell because they had too many enemies and they were affected by the small pox. During the Aztec's reign men had higher social statuses than girls. When you got married then your family picked for you . When you got married you had to go pray to gods for four days. They had a class structure just like the Mayas but it wen from slaves , peasants, to commoners, then to rulers. For food the Aztecs had a special ingredient called mi gas, it could be cooled then used got tamales, and also for porridge. The Aztecs believed that if you were displeasing the gods then they would send earthquakes. Aztecs did rituals for the gods.

The Inca empire started in 1438.One of the Inca's most prized possessions was Machu Pechu. Machu Pechu was a town the the Inca built about 10,000 feet in the air. It had 5,000 to 10,000 people in it. And it had a great observatory in it. Machu Pichu was hidden from the world until 1911 when someone found it. Now it is one of the seven wonders of the world. When you were born you were most likely born into being a commoner. If you were a boy you got married at 20 but if you were a girl then you got married at 16. The Inca believed in many gods, most of them were for nature. The Inca controlled at least 10,000,000 people. Sometimes the Incas offered sacrifices to the gods.
