1)Jane Eyre. Details I notice include like dark lighting, mist or fog, suspenseful music, figure and noises......patterns that emerge are N/A
2)Bram Stokers Dracula, a lot of angles and zoom ins, suspenseful music, can shape shift and is falling in love, the man has power and in distress. Patterns screeches and in castles.
3)Phantom of the Opera. Lit hall with candles, long stair way,singing with man and women, fades into one picture then the next. Patterns i see are they all have suspenseful music and they all are in some sort of big building.
4)Van Helsing, dark lighting, in a small town, fights monsters and goes against evil, fast movement, suspenseful music and other things. Patterns music and lighting and a lot of castles.

      -Some locations are castles, monasteries, abbeys, wine cellars, grottos, dungions, catacombs/graves, ruins, secret : panels, doors, tunnels, or passages. Places where they can be hiding. Some actual features are stained glass, narrow- long pointed windos, vaulted ceilings, pointed arches, turrets, the gargoyle (the mascot of Gothic Literature) spires, and a strong sense of "vertical" building or structure.

      -Some outside locations that can be seen in Gothic Literature is more like rugged terrain. What mother nature created. Cliffs, rocky shores, caves, underground tunnels, caverns, lonely moors, uninhabited mountains, desolate forests. The terrain works with the architecture to build the setting. 

4. How would weather affect the plot?
    -Some weather you will see in Gothic Literature is cold, gloom, harsh winter, winds, rain, fog, storms. Weather is a part of nature and can be used to affect the characters and the plot. (atmosphere and mood). It represents the characters or plot. ex: if its raining, that can mean the main character is sad or that's gives off their mood. Another is is if their mad or furious, there would be lightening. Transformative Power of Nature to affect emotions. Dark and destructive and it drives a characters towards madness or evil actions.

   -Mysterious Settings. Claustrophobic, dark venues such as an old castle, mansion, or abbey. Places of fear and dread that portray the world as deteriorating. Desperate, dark ruined scenery. Surrounding area is dismal and rotting, often adding a haunting flavor of impending doom. There is also supernatural. Elements of superstition. Ghosts, vampires, etc. Unexplained sounds, sights, occurrences. Eerie atmosphere. Mysterious tone adds to building of tension. 
Emotions and Passions: emotion over rationality. Spells of hysteria, lust, and anxiety. Frequent crying and screaming. Detailed sensory description revealing characters' passions. Characters experience terror and hysteria due to miasmic atmosphere.

Broken Family: Families are often broken, incestuous, or murderous. Women subject to lustful wrongdoings. Male characters are tyrannical. Women are depicted as damsels in distress. Family unit confining, from which characters must escape. The characters are lonely, isolated, and oppressed. Presence of a tyrannical villain. Action revolves around an unrequited love, or illicit love affair. A vendetta or vengeance is a prominent theme.

    -Some motifs are t wind, especially howling. Doors grating on rusty hinges. Footsteps approaching. Gusts of wind blowing out lights. Characters trapped in a room. Baying or dogs (or wolves). Thunder and/or lightning. Rain, sighs, moans, howls. Clanking chains. Lights in abandoned rooms. Gusts of wind blowing out lights. Doors suddenly slamming shut. Crazed laughter. Screaming or crying.
