I went to elementary school in 1978. I was just five! I remember quite well the first day. That day I and my twin brother had typical shoulder bags. My bag was red and my brother's was blue. They were adorable!
Our mother joined our hands and then we walked for 30 minutes ALONE. We arrived there and the school wasn't big but it had a huge playground.  There were 20 pupils in our class. Dª Margarida, our teacher, was "different" (she was a black person) but she was  very kind and patient. We learned to read and write. I loved Portuguese but I didn't like maths. My brother was brilliant at it. In our first school we met our first friends. "Carmi" is still one of my bff nowadays. We loved to play hide & seek together!
There was only one thing that I didn't like in our school. During break, we  had to drink milk in a plastic cup. Even today, I can feel the smell of it! I went to school when I was six years old. I had two best friends, Simone and Cristiana. There were eleven pupils, we were a small class.
I remember that I was very good at all subjects. I was so good that teacher Ramiro needed to give me extra work, so I didn't get bored in class.
My school was small and old but it had a great playground, so I loved it. My favourite activities were end of year activities.
There was only one thing that I didn't like, the milk they offered to pupils.
