1. I see that there are people on a bridge, caught in the rain. They look surprised by the rain, because they're hunched over and using their hats and shirt to protect themselves. It looks like a period in time that is historical, not like modern day Japan.
2. I notice how the colors at the top of the painting turn into a dark gray to emphasize the storm with a cloud. Also, the angle at which the painting is painted allows the viewer to see the water, people, supports for the bridge, city, and activities occurring in the body of water. This POV is definitely intentional to give the viewer setting and makes the painting more complex.
3. "Sudden Shower" helps to solidify that the people were caught off guard by the rain, also "Shin-Ohashi Bridge and Atake" gives the viewer a setting. In conclusion, this artwork is about a normal day being interrupted unexpectedly.

1. There's a big wave with 3 boats that have people in them.
2. The people in the boats look like they are taking cover because of the big wave they're about to hit.
3. Since the people are taking cover, I think this represents someone being overwhelmed or maybe preparing for a big challenge. Part of the title "Under the Wave" is the "big challenge" that you have to prepare for so you can overcome it.

1. I see a large bridge with people on it walking in the rain while there is a small boat in the background
2. Judging by the types of hats and boats it leads me to believe this is somewhere in Asia or with an Asian culture influence. Also, the heavy rain rain makes think of monsoon weather so this could be somewhere in southeast Asia
3. Based off the fact that people are walking in the rain and the sailor is doing his job in the rain there could be a message about perseverance and determination. Also, these people were caught off guard hence the title "sudden shower"

1. I see large dangerous looking waves that a group of people is trying to go against. The boats seem to be struggling and losing.
2. The waves are large, powerful, looming over the people as if it were controlling them. The boats are very small compared to the waves. They seem weaker and are in the command of the waves. 3. Based on the artwork, my understanding of it, and the title, i think the artwork is emphasizing the power of the sea in order to illustrate the power that one can have over others and the dangers of it.

I notice that the people are all covering their head, most with what appears to be an umbrella like thing, one person with a hat, and the last person with a blanket or something, they all are walking on the bridge. There appears to be a person on something like a boat and the artist used black at the top to make rain clouds. The title is an accurate description of the picture.

The people standing on the bridge look as if they're trying really hard to stay in place, holding onto their umbrellas and hats, even cuddling together to get through the rain. The title of this artwork says "Sudden shower over Shin-Ohashi Bridge and Atake";This piece wants to address to the audience that maybe sudden problems will arrive often, but it's important to persevere through it.

People of japan are fleeing from an outside force under the pouring rain on top of a bridge. The pouring rain seems to signify sadness and mourning, since the people also have straw hats and are facing downwards. The name of the piece, "Sudden Shower Over Shi-Ohashi Bridge and Atake", could potentially represent a sudden gust of sadness or a random occurence that brought grief and mourning to the people. The bridge can also signify bringing people together, and that bridge is bringing people together to mourn for something they had lost.

I see there are people waking on a bridge while it is raining. It looks as if the rain is very heavy and the people are startled by it. The bridge and setting have a more historical look. This des not look like a scene you would see in japan today. The view of the scene that is painted is shown to give the viewer a overview of the scene which also makes the painting as a whole seem more complex. I think it is to represent people mourning but they are mourning together hence all being on the bridge.

The waves do not look calm, but they are not huge and towering either. Also, looking at the colors and light brush strokes, I gather a content feeling from this artwork. The title "Springtime in Enoshima" can also represent a calm feeling because of how warm and lively spring is.

1. The picture is a picture of waves, that seem to be agitated or rough. 2. The waves are more close which hint that it's abnormally more important, but in the back is a mountain with snow at the top
3. Since the title talks about somthing being under a wave, I think that a city or province went underwater through a tsunami or natural disaster, such as flash flood.

The Great Wave depicts 2 rowboats in a rough ocean heading straight into a giant wave. I figure it represents the people in the boats or just people in general facing off against a larger, serious challenge. The wave is about to swallow them whole and they are heading straight into it, and it seems like they’re all bending down and clinging to the boat, afraid. The painting could represent a huge “wave” of problems overwhelming somebody.

1. This looks like a rough ocean with large waves.
2. It’s style seems to be of some sort of cartoon. The colors don’t make the piece ominous or scary. However, you can see some sort of boats at the base of the waves and the waves curling, and about to crash.
3. The message of this image seems to be exciting. The artist leaves it up to the viewer to determine the exact meaning, though. My interpretation is the piece demonstrates anticipating the future and not being sure whether to panic about the unknown or face it head on.
