I think that quote is a perfect definition of chaos and order in this book because although Rex seemed chaotic and reckless letting Jeannette almost drown, he really did want her to learn how to swim. Rex really thought he was doing the right thing. I chose this picture because it symbolizes that although something may look broken or ruined, that if you put effort and love into it you can fix it and make it beautiful again.

Jeannette was upset because she had been lectured by her parents for talking back to Erma after she takes bad about Jeanette's black friend. She felt betrayed by her parents and had the realization that her parents were exactly what they hated... hypocrites. This picture describes her growing up and becoming a beautiful young woman.

I chose this picture because it was quite comedic. the image made me laugh because he wants a paperless office but gives her tons of paper to go over. Rose Mary was upset because the nurse had given Jeannette chewing gum without her consent. This is ironic because Rose Mary was hardly a caregiver to Jeannette. The children were always on their own and getting by on their own so the fact that they needed to ask Rose Mary for permission is very ironic.

Rose Mary's attitude suggests that being the victim of sexual assault is a critical part of growing up. In this picture it shows a little girl crying, maybe after an abusive episode. Although Jeannette was sexually abused she never really let it get to her and she proceeded with life.

Jeannette was trying to step into her moms shoes and try and say no to her dad but she couldn't. I chose this picture because she was trying to find herself throughout this period just like the man pulling at the fingerprint looking for answers. Jeannette soon realizes her father will never change and she slowly starts to loose trust in him.

Rose Mary is selective of the things she lets slide. She was forgiving of Erma and Hitler but would completely judge the women from the green lantern continuously. I think Rose Mary suffered from bipolar disorder because she would switch attitudes really fast. I chose this picture because it shows two moods laying on top of each other as one and I believe Rose Mary really fought hard to keep herself together and strong.
