It makes me feel more uplifted, and I could understand why this was popular during the Vietnam War Era. Although happy, the lyrics are a little depressing. It talks about not going out because there is a "bad moon rising" which refers back to the Vietnam War. They also see the "bad times today" and other things. This is interesting because the sounds is fun, but there are subtle parts in the song like "I feel the end is near".
