I could actually hear you having a little fun with it which was fantastic. Looking at your performance map there a few moments that I think can be brought out even more in your performance. For example, the emphasis you put on "nothing" in the first line really helps set the tone for the rest of the piece, you have a good standard emphasis on the word in this recording but see what happens if you really make it over the top. In your analysis you mentioned thinking the intended audience was other men which made me think: what if this poem was performed in a more modern context? Someone hanging out with their buddies kind of ragging on the woman he loves but then coming to the conclusion that he loves her no matter what. The little bit about Willie thinking he was cooking peas is so nice and playful. When you talk about Mae being kind and this name being a sign of hope I would suggest giving a slight pause before each of those words. Kindness and Hope are huge parts of this emotional journey so use those moments as a time to let the audience breathe. For the Emile repetition I would suggest either changing the pace so that it's faster like you're trying to drill it in, or have each one be distinctly different (changing pitch, tone, or volume for each). Your delivery of the last line right now gives us a little bit of assuredness but I would like it to radiate with pride.
