"They were savages, all of them, who knew no law but the law of club and fang." This is a battle, humankind vs. animals. He learned his when he first got there. 

The second lesson Buck learned was that you either fight or die. There is no fair play. You don't get back up once your down. "So this was the way. No fair play. Once down, that was the end of you. Well, he would see to it that he never went down." He learned this after Curly was killed. 

Third lesson Buck learned was how to be a sled dog, with the help of Spitz. Spitz growled sharply now and again, or he threw his weight in the trance to jerk Buck into the way he should go. Buck this very easily, what to do when "ho" and "mush" were said. 

The forth lesson was how to sleep in the snow. As he was wondering around trying to find his team-mates, he tripped over Billee, who had made a hole in the ground to keep warm. 

The last thing Buck learned this chapter was to bite the ice between his toes, and when he was thirsty, he would break it by rearing and striking with his fore legs. He also have ability to scent the wind and forecast it a in night.

Sad it going go so well. The husky jumped at her and ripped her face from her eye to jaw. 30 - 40 other huskies came over and circled her, licking their lips. He met her attack with his chest causing her to tumble off her feet.

When they humans got the huskies off her it was to late.  This is when she died. She never got up, she laid there lifeless. At the camp, when Buck finished his ration and went back to his igloo he found an unwanted guess. This trespasser happened to be Spitz. This was the last straw for Buck and they started fighting. Buck was surprised when the beast inside him roared, Spitz was too. 

When the huskies attacked, Buck had three of them on him. Suddenly he had felt teeth in him throat, this was Spitz. I love this quote because when Hal is beating the dogs they refuse do do the work they are asked to do. If something is hurting you, you don't want to keep doing it, so that's what the dogs are doing.
