I decided to work with clay for my piece. This had been the first time working with clay in four years. I wanted to re learn and refresh my prior knowledge on techniques and tips to help work with my clay piece. The first thing i did with my clay is wedge it to get all the air pockets out it. After wedging, I made a slab out of my clay. I got the clay to be the exact shape i wanted it to be and then i smoothed the edges all around and had it put in the kiln.

Many times I wanted to give up on my project because the clay wouldn't work with me or It wouldn't be turning out how i envisioned in my head. Instead of giving up i pursued new ideas and creative ways to work with the clay and overall have self satisfaction.

I researched artists and came across Salvador Dali. The way his paintings would always include some of the same themes interested me. Dali most of the times made his paintings look as if they were melting or they were becoming deformed. I wanted to try and capture the same type of theme with a tribute to Salvador Dali.

During the whole project I revised things and altered ideas to make it work best. My original idea for the piece did not include the clock stand I created for my final piece that I handed in. I wouldn't have thought of a Dali themed background for it either without improvising and going with the flow of things and gaining ideas from my table partners.
