This week I read about the meeting that Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin had and which took place in Alaska.

One thing I learned is that we should put more attention to what’s going on in the world, we may be happy and comfortable but not very far away there’s people suffering and maybe there’s not much we can do about it, but maybe there’s is, and the first step is to be informed because if we don’t know what’s happening, we can’t make a change.

Another thing that I reflected about was how unfair I believe it was that Ukraine and European allies weren’t invited to the meeting. It made me realize how difficult is to achieve fairness, just like in this situation, where people who are directly affected are being left out and often don’t get a say.

Something else I thought about was how dangerous power is, especially when in the wrong hands and when it’s being used to manipulate. The article mentioned how both Trump and Putin have this “imperial” way of thinking, like they’re both trying to impose their ways. I thought of this as something very dangerous, due to how easy it is for history to repeat itself, and when power has been miss used before, it hasn’t worked out well for anyone.

Lastly, I realized that as long as there’s not real progress, it’s very hard to believe that because of a handshake between both parts everything’s going to work out. I believe that it is good talking and discussing things, but it’s even better to do something about it, which, in my opinion we haven’t seen much. Taking action would really mean a lot to the Ukrainians who are still living in not only unfairness but constant fear.

His murder caused a lot of controversy due to his political opinions. Moira Donegan criticized the tributes made to him, arguing that they distort his story. She emphasizes that this man promoted hateful, racist, and sexist ideas and that his campus appearances often humiliated opponents rather than encouraging genuine debate. She concludes that his killing was indefensible, but should not be used to excuse or defend his beliefs.


In my community, social media often defends people simply because they were attacked, or are a public figure, without considering the harm of their ideas or their actual actions. This situation highlights the importance of separating empathy for excusing wrong behaviors.


In conclusion, I believe people shouldn’t be blindly influenced by what they see and should apply critical thinking.

After visiting the tunnel, we were allowed to see history as human and personal. Seeing the images and stories made us feel the contrast between cruelty and empathy, indifference and memory. Tolerance is much more than just being ok with everything, is also about having the ability to accept and respect differences in opinions, beliefs, behaviors or practices, no matter how different they are from yours. This experience also showed us the importance of actively remembering and reflecting on history, we all have the responsibility to learn from the past to build a better present and future.
