Updates have now been received directly from the commissioner on our Australian Troops fighting in Papua New Guinea. The death toll is now sitting at 300 with over 500 wounded.

We need to continue to show our support for troops and their families.
May they rest in peace.

The weather on the Kokoda Campaign is tough. The terrain is steep, the vegetation dense and the enemy close at hand and unseen.

It has been raining constantly, and when it's not raining, the heat from the jungle is causing steam to rise. So, in the non-rain periods, you can't see anything either because of the jungle mist.

The rain is allowing Japanese troops to disguise their movement and hide when they bring up heavy guns. The weather is making it hard for Australian Troops to spot where the Japanese are firing from until they have already shot fire.

Born in Shikoku, Hoshi traveled to fight for his emperor.

His wife and daughter told of his kindess and compassion. "He was a loving man and a good father" his wife exclaimed. A touching letter from his daughter left tears in the eyes of reports today. "I will forever miss my daddy."

Hoshi was shot dead lying next to an Australian solider, Jack.

In their hands, photos of their beloved families.
