Second, the map on Document E shows that most of the accusers we on the west side of Salem, which was the poor farmer side of town. Most of the accused lived on the East side of Salem, where wealthy and politically powerful families lived. Men held more power than women. People did not take women as seriously as they did men. It would be more likely that people would believe a man if he accused a women than if a women accused a man.
