First, we would like to kick off by saying a few words about what this work camp will include.
This camp will be about the environment, and more specifically how to become more environmentally friendly with cleaning products (and in general).
We will share a few DIY products that you can make at home, along with useful information about what you should look for if you want to switch to more environmentally friendly products in your household.
We will use this site as our basic communication channel, as you can leave comments at every post. 

For the DIY products, you will need to have some ingredients in your home:
- 1 bottle of White vinegar
- Jar
- Vaporizer
- Fresh orange/lemon/mandarine peel (optional)
- Essential oils (optional)
- Lemon
- 1 bottle of castile soap
- 3/4 cups of olive oil
- Cloth / old tshirts / towels
- Jar of bicarbonate of soda (baking soda)
- Salt
- Rubbing alcohol
- Scissor
- Ruler
- Jars / bottles


And for our first activity, we would like to play a game with you. Please write a comment with 3 statements about you, out of which 2 have to be true and 1 has to be a lie. We will discuss them tomorrow on our first video call and guess which statement is a lie for everyone. A few words about the videos...

1. Toilet frizzie bombs: Let them dry from 12 to 24 hours and put them in a dry sealed jar.
2. Dish liquid : If you don't have Castille Soap you can use Marseille Soap (Olive oil if possible)
3. Infused white vinegar : This is an optional recipe since we can use white vinegar itself, however for people who doesn't like the smell (like Marie). We really recommend to do the infuse vinegar and to do it as soon as possible so it can be ready for next week!

Note. The essential oils are optional, just add them if you want the products to smell.

  1. Clean with used kitchen towels.
  2. Change your sponges and scrubs from the plastic ones to biodegradable ones.
  3. Ditch paper towels and cleaning wipes, as there are reusable alternatives that can be washed in the washing machine.
  4. In the vacuum cleaner, instead of buying new bags into it, you can empty the full one out into the bin, so that you don’t have to buy a new one every time.
  5. You can buy mop heads that are reusable and washable in the machine.
  6. Do NOT buy microfiber cloths as they are made of plastic and usually contain microplastics, instead buy knitted cloths.
  7. Try looking for bulk shops or zero waste shops that sell cleaning products as well, so that you can get a bottle refilled.
  8. In general, you can find eco-friendly or plastic free cleaning tools online or in store everywhere.

Tips for becoming more eco-friendly when washing your clothes:
  1. Number one thing to remember: the water from your washing machine ends up in the oceans.
  2. Do not use fabric softener, or use a homemade one - its non essential and it is very toxic to the ocean life.
  3. When it comes to the detergent, make your own, or buy one that is natural and doesn’t damage marine life.
  4. Wash your stuff less often if possible, because every wash is damaging.
  5. Try to fill up your washing machine as much as possible.
  6. Skip the dryer and hang your clothes to dry - it saves energy and is better for your clothes as well.
  7. If you have a choice between buying a front loading washing machine or a top loading one, go for the front loading one as it most likely uses up a lot less water.
  8. Ironing is not a step that is necessary for all clothes, so skipping it can save a lot of energy.
  9. 90 percent: Amount of total of energy used by a typical washing machine to heat the water; only 10 percent is used to power the motor. - so wash your clothes at a lower temperature.
  10. 34 million tons: Amount of carbon dioxide emissions that would be saved if every U.S. household used only cold water for washing clothes.
  11. 700 pounds: Amount of carbon dioxide emissions saved each year by line-drying your family's laundry. You'd save 75 bucks, too.
  12. 99 pounds: Amount of carbon dioxide emissions saved per household each year by running only full loads of laundry.
  13. 7,000 gallons: Amount of water saved per year by a typical front-loading washing machine compared to a top-loading washing machine.

However, here is the process for the one's that couldn't make it to the meeting today. Cheers!

Ingredients:
- Rubbing alcohol
-  Cloth (old tshirt or towel)
- Castille soap

Tools:
- Scissor
- Mason jar / sealing jar

How to:
Cut the cloth (I suggest you cotton) into the desire size. Then fold them and put them in a clean, empty sealing jar. After, add one or two (or three) tablespoons of rubbing alcohol (this will depend on how big are your wipes and how many you did). Later add a tablespoon of castille soap and some water. Seal your jar and use it when needed.

Note. The cloths should stay damp in the seal jar. You can always wash the cloths and repeat this process again. This way you won't have to use disposible wipes again. How to:
Just mix half part of white vinegar and half part of water, if desired add essential oils to make it smell. Put this mix into a vaporizer and you're done!

Note. I reused an old vaporizer bottle that I had from the cleaner I used to by at the supermarket (but that I'm not buying ever again, yikes!)
