You may impersonate them, for effect of course! These conversations can be personal or funny, however the case, you still re-tell the stories! 
Direct and indirect speech can take place more than once a day, you can tell your mom what the president said on television or re-live a conversation you had with someone. Either way, you will take those direct words and form them into your vocabulary to ensure that the listener gets all the details, or do they? Hence indirect speech is using the words from someone else to form your own sentences or convey a message. While direct speech is the direct words of someone.

What method of communication do you prefer, someone's direct words or someone's words that could be influenced by others? Do you think making use of someone else's words to carry across what they said can be beneficial? When can it help a situation? And why can it create disagreements?

Re-telling stories are always comical, adding that bit of "spice" when doing so. But I think many people get carried away and add things that are unnecessary and could cause more harm than intended. That's a way how drama usually starts. And direct speech is kind of boring, but that's just my opinion. Firstly I'd like to comment on how everything is really English! We sit in a classroom and either learn or teach concepts that are so basic yet students struggle to comprehend it because we often teach these concepts in far-fetched scenarios. The example given, however, is so close to home and relatable and therefore for the next lesson where I teach direct and indirect speech I would definitely be using an example similar to this, in hopes of helping my learners understand these topics a bit better.

Secondly, I feel like both Direct and Indirect Speech are of equal importance. Indirect Speech is more toward the informal conversations, as mentioned, relaying something that one friend said, to the other, and that's an important skill to have. However, Direct speech is something that you'll definitely need somewhere during your Educational career, both primary and secondary education. As Direct Speech is needed to quote information that you may need in, for example, an academic essay, and would obviously, be of great help regarding avoiding plagiarism.

To sum it all up, there are many other circumstances that could pinpoint the importance of having knowledge of both Direct and indirect speech. In my opinion, I think, that's what is the gist of it.

It is more of a formal type of speech and the truth. Although people use indirect speech more often because its part of our daily lives to be telling stories to friends and family spicing up the story. But to hear the direct story is very important.

You tend to communicate without thinking about the history behind words. Indirect speech is often speech that was recorded in your mind and exposed through your lips and it leaves your listener guessing if it's true or not. In this case its sad that your words can be twisted and changed by someone else.
