He was interested in the steamship industry and he used the profits that he gained from the livestock trade to invest in a steamboat fleet that ran on Long Island Sound and the Hudson River. He was an American entrepreneur, businessman and the founder of the Marshall field and company.<br>He also was department store owner in retail merchandising. He became rich in Chicago. Field enter a business with Leiter and with their successful work, they had a company and it was called Field, Plamer, Leiter &amp; company. However, therefore, they both returned to the streets of Washington and opened a new five store and leased from the Singer Sewing Machine Company. He bought out Levi Z. Coke was really important at that time and his company became the first one in the world and that made him a millionaire in that time. He became rich in New York.&nbsp; He joined forces with William Tweed and Peter Sweeney to profit using Erie stock. He started buying large blocks of the Union Pacific Railroad and it became the first one in the nation. In addition, he took place in controlling the Western Union Telegraph Company.
