One way to help with researching is to teach them which sites would be best to use to start their research with. Such as Google Scholar, Online Databases, or just teach students what to look for within a website that would make a good source.

Something that I used a lot during school was the option on Google for "scholarly articles". It typically had very credible and accurate information, and was suggested to students to use by teachers and professors alike! I think it's important to make sure students are well educated on how to find valid and credible information.

A simple graphic like this can help students to pick creditable sources. I am a big fan of websites that end in .org or .gov. This is a simple and easy way to help students navigate through web sources.

Your school librarian is a wonderful source of knowledge. He/she will know of websites, or search engines that are credible. Collaborating with the librarian ensures that your resources will be reputable. The librarian would probably even be happy to co-teach a lesson on finding reputable sources. My librarian showed me a search engine that I now use with my second graders every year. It's called World Book Kids.
