I love the virtual field trips and the mystery skype! What a great way to allow children to explore so many things that they might not have ever had a chance to see. It allows them to get outside of Concord and see how much more the world has in store for them!!! - Michelle Mercado

I enjoyed looking at the Mystery Skype site. They had numerous Skype lessons for students to learn about a variety of topics via live Skype lessons. Mystery Skype allowed students from two schools that were 4,000 miles away from one another the opportunity to ask one another questions in order to discover each school's location. They had a great selection of virtual field trips on this site. I also enjoyed looking over the virtual field trips on the Discovery Education site. They had a very diverse selection of virtual field trips for students that covered some important events that are celebrated each year across the country such as: International Dot Day & Red Nose Day.
I really liked the Virtual Field Trips. It is a great way the students can experience many different things around the world. Given them a variety of future occupations to choose from. In addition, Mystery Skye is great! It allows students to encounter a variety of different experiences far from where they are. I wish we had the technology of today years ago. Our students have the opportunity to be exposed to so much at young ages which is great!

I enjoyed the Virtual Field Trips and Global Read Aloud. Virtual Field Trips would allow students the experience and broaden their knowledge of things they wouldn't other be able to experience. This would even be beneficial to ELA students. I viewed several trips that followed different authors. This would be a great way to do an author study. I also enjoyed the Global Read Aloud. I would have to do a lot of pre-planning to make this work, but it would be great to read the assigned book and then discuss with my students as well students in other states and countries.

I really loved the Virtual Field Trips. I think it is a great way for students to be able to experience places that they may never get to visit. It also gives them the opportunity to have a different type of classroom experience, and for them to be more engaged. I also liked looking through the Mystery Skype website. I noticed that there were skype lessons for all areas of content such as literacy, geography, and history. It even has lessons for animals, STEM, and social and emotional health. This is a great way for students to get a live learning experience.

Collaboration is key. Students are collaborating in so many ways and technology is a big part of those activities. Teaching students about their responsibility as digital citizens is important. The commonsense.org website provides a road map for teachers to teach digital citizenship (scope & sequence).

I loved the Virtual Field Trip because it allows the students to be able to learn more about places they would never be able to visit. Mystery Skype was neat because the students are learning about other countries and cultures while interacting with them.

We visited both citizenscience.gov and zooniverse.org to help scientists with their research projects. The students LOVED participating in the projects! As we saw with Google Expeditions, the students also love virtual field trips. The trips listed on the DE site look equally engaging and I love that they are already "classroom ready" with alignment to standards and units.
- Cori Cauble

Mystery Skype...HOW COOL!!! I could definitely use this to "take" students to other countries to learn about that country's favorite sport and how to play along with other interesting facts about that country/state/city. That is so neat!! I also love the idea of virtual field trips!! I participate with a 4th grade class to a museum in Colorado at R Brown McAllister this year and it was really neat how they could "go" to a museum and learn about things in a different climate.

The mystery skype was pretty cool but I'm not sure if it is K friendly. I think that it seems awesome for upper grades. The virtual Field trip just seemed like YouTube videos so it didn't seem any different than discovery Ed or Brian Pop. The only difference is that it will be easier to link it to content areas because it has done that for you.
