What does it mean to me -

May be how durable or eco- friendly a garment is.  However I’ll be looking at how we can have new pieces of merchandise in our wardrobe just by buying vintage (charity shops) or repairing / reworking old clothing into something trendy and unique. We should not be ashamed to make something from  second hand  clothing - to be honest not everyone is a character person.  But shops like urban outfitters have a “ urban renewal “ section where branded/unbranded clothing have been reworked and up cycled into something new.  There’s not many repetitive reproduction these clothing as most are uniquely different to others. 

I want to look at how they are processed , made and what makes them eco friendly. Making something simply out of material that people would throw away in the bin without thinking twice ...for example plastic bags. There’s been protests and additional costs to plastic bags since 2015. Several , yes not all , shops have an additional 5p -25p (Argos) plastic bag charge to attempt to “scare” customers away to not pay extra for a plastic bag (one of the worlds most dangerous global warming material ). However not all shops have taken this action of charging an extra 5p becuse they realise many customers change their option on what they have bought, in leaving an item that they can not carry. 

The problem is for me , why do these shops always have a huge amount of plastic bags in the first place.  Change their suppliers to having a bag that is upcycled from paper/other plastic materials would be more reasonable. Of course, for the shop owner, spending less on fixed costs would be better- and that’s where the problem lies. Cheap is what is making out earth sick. Fast fashion like  primark fashion is what is making our world sick. I found that materials that are up-cycled seems to be much more expensive than the ones that are not.  Perhaps if the fashion industry/ bag making industry made a change in recycled fashion merch / bags costing lesss than the fashion merch /bags that are not biodegradable.
