Who would like this book?  Almost any boy in elementary school would enjoy the gross humor in this book.  My 8 year old son, who usually despises reading, will not put the Dog Man books down. I literally have to take them from him, so he will go to bed. It is easy to read with lots of pictures, so it isn't intimidating for striving readers.

Summary:  Peter Quill aka Star-Lord  is living his life on Knowhere, when he is visited by another human-being from planet Earth, Captain Marvel.  Captain Marvel explains to Star-Lord that she and everyone on Earth need his help.  She tells him he cannot trust any of his friends, the Guardians of the Galaxy.  Peter lies to his friends telling them he is sick to avoid them while trying to save Earth with Captain Marvel.  Despite Peter's attempts to exclude his friends, they come to his rescue and help them defeat the mysterious villian.  
Who would like this book? This book is ideal for students in 3rd - middle school. Any boy interested in super heroes would enjoy this book. Summary:  Starr Carter is with her friend Kahlil Harris when they get pulled over by a police officer.  Starr witnesses the police officer shoot and kill unarmed Kahlil.  The book is told from her point of view as she struggles to find herself following the incident.
Mirror/ Window: This book could be a window book for those who cannot understand the Black Lives Matter movement.  As Starr reveals her feelings and thoughts toward the police shootings of unarmed black men, one can easily sympathize with her (and all of the other families who have been  affected by the injustices they face).

Bonus:  Mirror.  This book is filled with commentary and insight from so many nationalities.  Several describe their experience of moving to America and beginning school here and not speaking any English.  Minority students can surely see themselves in this book and relate to someone in it.  For minority students this book is a mirror, a way for them to see themselves. For dominant races, this book acts as window; a way for us to learn more about other cultures and their traditions. Who would like this book?  Any boy in upper elementary grades to middle school would enjoy this book.  This might be an ideal selection for someone moving to a new school (even though we don't want to give them any prank ideas).  Also, any student who enjoys jokes or humor may like this book.

She has an inseparable relationship with her dog Rain.  The two love each other.  In the midst of a huge storm, Rain gets out of the house and gets lost.  Rose blames her father for letting the dog outside without her leash - ultimately breaking one of the rules.  Will Rose be able to find Rain?
Who would like this book?  This book would be a good choice for anyone, especially animal lovers or those interested or curious about autism. Fifth graders or middle school grades would enjoy this book. 
Bonus: Window/ Mirror Book. Rose is raised by her father. Her mother ran away when Rose was very young. This book could be a mirror for a child who does not know their mother and is being raised only by their father. Summary: Oh my goodness, another tear jerker!  I could not put this one down.  The only book, I've ever read that I didn't want to stop reading.  Set in the 1800's, Angel was sold into prostitution at a very young age.  She remained a harlot and worked in several brothels.  Michael, a God fearing and religious man comes into her life when God tells him to marry her.  It is a difficult road for Michael as he pursues Angel, but he is relentless.  This a Christian romance about redemption.  I completely fell in love with Michael and his patience for Angel/ Sarah.
