Social Isolation- The act of doing it.
To block out the world 
Don't have anyone to talk to and choose to separate yourself.  Can lead to depression. 

Loneliness- Feeling that you have of being alone, no one cares about you. 
Stay home, don't feel like doing anything. Can lead to depression 

Physically you can become tired and make yourself sick. 

As a community you can help someone who is isolating themselves.  Check up on them to make sure they are eating or find out if they need anything. Make them feel special and maybe send them presents.
