P: My name in William Wisteria and I work as a gardener. This morning, while I was working, I got distracted and cut myself on my left hand with my shear. I tried to make the bleeding stop with ice and cold water, but it didn't work.
TN: Oh... alright, let's see what we have here. How painful is it?
P: Very painful. I feel like 10000 needles are stuck in my hand all at once and the pain doesn't go away.
TN: First of all, we have to make the bleeding stops, so let's disinfect it and put some bandages on it, so it doesn't get inflected. Then, we will call the doctor and let them see it, so we can decide how to move forward. I think for sure you will need some stitches on that wound.
Other than the pain on your hand, do you feel anything else?
P: No, I just feel a little bit dizzy.

Then, however, I didn't even consider becoming a paediatric nurse. But as I grew up I started to see the beauty of the bond between nurses and patients and how it could made an impression on someone and decided that maybe that was my path to follow. Why do you think you will be a good nurse? chiarabande https://padlet.com/chiarabande/w68119zh0agdi4ye/wish/1819424812 In my personal opinion, in order to become a good nurse, you'll have to have not only a share of knowledge based on the academic courses but also a fair share of skills and qualities related to the internship period inside the hospital and to the person's personality and individuals' traits. I think some of the skills and traits someone who will want to become a nurse have to have are:
-Empathy: the ability to understand the mood and the physical and mental state of the person you are in front of, without being immersed in it, that way you can establish relationship with the patients;
-Cool head: the ability to maintain a calm state or a cool head in the face of stressful situations, in that way you can react quickly in emergencies situations;
-Passion: without passion that can drive you on this kind of job, it can become stressful and heavy and all of that, it projects on the quality of the assistance you provide;
-Good Communication: being able to communicate to the patients or their relative in a good and simple way can erase the possibility of misunderstanding and help to decrease the anxiety of the treatments or of the diagnosis;
-Altruism: someone who want to become a good nurse has to have a powerful impulse to help others and to do some good for the people around them;
-Patience: sometimes this kind of job can become overwhelming so it's important to breath and maintain the calm even when situations become a bit too much. It's important to remember the reason why we decided to pursue this dream and continue to work hard in order to obtain that.

I really wish that in the future, when I'll got all the academic knowledge and experience on the hospital yards I'll be able to obtain or consolidate some of the skills or traits that I don't have or I have nowadays. Since this is the kind of way I want to run on for the rest of my life, I will try hard to become the kind of nurse that not only cure and assist in the medical sense the patients but I want to assist and help them on all their necessities both the physical, mental or social ones

The article I chose to summarize talks about how the anaesthesia changed during the decades and became more secure and innovative. It was used for the first time in the 19th century in the form of ether, but it had some cons like induce vomit. After that, during surgery, they started to use chloroform but it could cause sudden death. Nowadays they use intravenous induction of anaesthetic and muscles relaxant that let the patient feel no pain and guarantee their safety, while the surgeons proceed with the surgery. There are three different tipes of anaesthesia based on the kind of surgery: local, regional and general. Today, thanks to modern monitoring system and a better knowledge on the anatomy and physiognomy of the human body, anaesthesia is a lot safer than before and cause a fewer possibility of death.

What did you admire about this person? chiarabande https://padlet.com/chiarabande/w68119zh0agdi4ye/wish/1819425794 During my first year of paediatric nursing I attended an internship in two hospital yards: Paediatric yard and MA.CRO.CO (aka a surgical department with three different specialities: general surgery, plastic surgery and digestive surgery). Thanks to that I had a lot of different tutors but only one of them has left a huge impact on me. I met her on the Paediatric yard, she's been a nurse for only 3-4 years and she isn't much older than me. Maybe that's why she left such a big impact on me, she's very passionate about her job and that kind of fondness reflects on the way she does her job and treats her patients. She shows them ultimate care and assistance on their needs, not only by using her knowledge, she talks to them a lot and tries to make them comfortable so the assistance and treatment she provides are accepted gratefully by them and there aren't any misunderstanding. Not only the way she treats them impressed me but also the way she had taught me all she knows, the way she cared for me when something bad happened in the yards, the way she trusted me to do tasks she assigned me because in her eyes I was able to do that and competent enough, the way she was always ready to explain the procedures to me when she was doing them and to answer my questions even if they were stupid. Again this term, I enjoyed reading your Padlet, Chiara. For some reason, I imagined clinical tutors were older. It was interesting to read that yours was just a few years older than you. It must have made it easier to talk to her. How she trusted you on the ward and assigned tasks to you must have made you become more confident in your skills!

I had many clinical tutors during my placements, who were there to guide, support and help me develop both my knowledge and practical skills.
However, I have fond memories of my very first clinical tutor: Vanessa.
I met her when I was still in my second year of the paediatric nursing course, during my second placement in the plastic surgery department.
Not only did she taught me the purely clinical skills, but she also showed me what it meant to have passion for your job and what it meant to her to be a nurse.
She is one of the people I admire the most, not only because of her expertise and her work ethic, but also because she was one of the few people who, despite my inexperience and my fear, always respected me as an equal and believed in me, in my knowledge and my skills, time and time again.
By the end of my internship, I had learnt so much from her that I was able to carry out the daily procedures on my own.
Vanessa and I worked as a team, in such a synergistic way that she told me that she would be happy for me to become her colleague in the department when I finished my degree, and that during that time, although she was my tutor and the one who had had to train me, I had taught her my view and what being a nurse meant to me.
