This is the first time, the seeds are planted and watered. Each cup contains five seeds and the seedlings are planted not so deep into the soil because at the dormant stage, the seeds respiratory rate is very low and so oxygen is required in very small quantities. Seeds that sown deeply in soil fail to germinate because of lack of oxygen. After that, this seed was kept in a dark place. This is because scientific reason state that darkness have no effect to carbonic acid gas and the oxygen remain undisturbed to favor germination and hence is more correct to state darkness as a germinating factor and light as a hindering factor.

As soon as the seeds started to grow, the tissues paper are removed from covering the seeds. All plants are watered twice per day using regular water. All the plants have been placed near sunlight. This is because plants need sunlight to produce food. At early stage of growing, bean's plants do not need sunlight because they already have cotyledons. But when the cotyledons disappear, they need sunlight to produce food. Treatment has not start yet.

As soon as the second's pair of leaves appear, I start the treatment. Before treatment start, only two plants kept while the other three plants have been removed. Next, all the selected plant has been tied lightly to wooden sticks using thread in order to support its growth. Each cup has been given the treatment based on the label on them.

Each polystyrene cup's seeds start to sprout, and the tissue covering it is taken off. On this day, photosynthesis will take place in the container holding the germinated seeds because it is close to sunlight. At the moment, no treatment is given.

Today's the treatment began. For this procedure, just two of each cup's finest and healthiest seedlings are left. The last two seedlings are around the same height. Cut and remove the remaining seeds from the polystyrene cup. The remaining seedlings are then linked together using bamboo skewers and thread to prevent them from bending. The polystyrene cup's labelled instructions are followed for administering the therapy. For instance, NPK (nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium) is used in Cup 1. Cup 2 is PK, Cup 3 is NK, Cup 4 is PN, and Cup 5 is just water sprayed. The plants in each cup are then all watered with ionized water in the afternoon.

The seedlings are beginning to differentiate themselves. In comparison to the seedlings in the other containers, the leaves of the ones in cup 3 started to somewhat wither. In this experiment, the macronutrients nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P), and potassium (K) were employed. Treatment is not necessary today. Simply water the plants as needed, which is in the morning and evening.

Day 9 - Second treatment

Today's procedure involved the second treatment. According to observations made today, the seedlings in cup 3 have withered and their leaves are not as sturdy as those of the other cups. The seedling in cup 3 trees grew taller despite this. The seedlings in cups 1, 2, 4, and 5 are the same way. Comparatively quickly to the other seedlings in the same cup, one of the trees in cup 1 began to wither and bow. The cup 2, 3, and cup 5 seedlings are doing nicely. On these three days, seedling growth was observed. All the plants were growing at a normal rate and have also grown the first pair of leaves.

Since all the plants have grown the first set of leaves, tree treatment will begin. Each polystyrene cup is left with 2 plants that have the same physical characteristics (so that it is easy to observe). The rest should be cut with scissors so that the roots of the plants will not disturb others. The plants are supported with two skewers each so that the plants does not twist when trying to grow. The treatment starts, the first cup has NPK, the second cup has no N, the third cup has no P, the fourth cup has no K and the fifth cup has no treatment.

~Treatment is given for cup 1 by using 1 mol 2 ml nitrogen, 1 mol 2 ml phosphorus and 1 mol 2 ml potassium.
~Treament for cups 2, 3 and 4 uses 1 mol 2.5 ml nitrogen, 1 mol 2.5 ml potassium and 1 mol 2.5 ml phosphorus.

This treatment needs to be put a distance away from the plants' stem using a dropper.

The first day of treatment. The 2 best plants which are judged by the fertility of it is chosen while the others are eliminated by cutting the stem using a pair of scissor. The chosen plants is then supported by tying the stems to the sticks using a thread so that it doesn't broke. Each plants from different labeled cup have been given with different types of fertilizer which are :
NPK : Nitrogen, Phosphorus and Potassium
PK : Phosphorus and Potassium ( lacking Nitrogen )
NK : Nitrogen and Potassium ( lacking Phosphorus)
NP : Nitrogen and Phosphorus ( lacking Potassium )
None : no fertilizer given in this cup but it has been watered twice a day.
After the treatment process, the height of each plants are measured by using a ruler and jotted down in a table.

On 28th August the first treatment was done. Only two plants that have alike characteristic were left in each polystyrene cup to ease observation about its morphology, the rest were cut. Each tree has the same number of leaves, which are two and the leaves are dark green. The trees are tied to stick to support the growth of the tree so that it does not bend too much towards the sun (positive phototropism) and break. The height of each tree in each cup is measured and record.

The seventh day of the experiment is the first day of treatment for my plants. So here I had to choose 2 plants which are the most healthy and have the same characteristics to undergo for the next process. While the rest of the plants were cut using scissors as they are not being used anymore.

These 2 selected plants were tied to the sticks to give support and make sure they are not bent too much towards sunlight. So that, the experiment would be done smoothly without any problem. The height of each plant was also measured and recorded accurately using a long ruler.

After that, the plants are given their treatment according to the label of each cup.

First cup (Treatment 1): the plants received all the nutrients which are nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium

Second cup (Treatment 2): the plants received phosphorus and potassium but lack of nitrogen

Third cup (Treatment 3): the plants received nitrogen and potassium but lack of phosphorus

Fourth cup (Treatment 4): the plants received nitrogen and phosphorus but lack of potassium

Fifth cup (Treatment 5): the plants did not receive any nutrients but they must be watered as usual

All of these treatments are given to the plants using a droper

On the eighth day of the experiment, the plants began to show a slight change. A significant plant change that I could see is from the third cup which is containing nutrients (nitrogen and potassium) but lacks phosphorus. One of the plants withers and bends down to earth. It looks dry and shriveled. However, the height of the plants is not shown any effect. The rest are even grown much taller and bigger than yesterday.

Note: Today is not a treatment day so the plants are just watered twice a day both morning and evening to make sure they do not die.

The ninth day of the experiment is the second day of treatment for my plants. Another treatment is received by the plants according to the label on each cup. The height of plants was also measured and recorded as usual to see their changes.

The plants from the third cup are getting worst. Both of them are wilt and the leaves color also turns dark. They almost die. Meanwhile, the other plants do not show any defects. Their stems are growing taller and their leaves also seem to become bigger. This indicates that these plants are getting appropriate and sufficient nutrients that suit the plants.

On the tenth day of the experiment, the plants began to show significant progress. Both plants from the third cup are dead while the plants from the fourth cup decrease in height but not obviously. Their leaves also become shriveled and dry due to a lack of moisture.

However, the leaves in the fifth cup are curled down but they still look bigger and their stems also grow taller than before. Lastly, both plants in the first and second cup look very fertile and the height also increases day by day.

The eleventh day of the experiment is the last day of treatment for my plants. The treatment is given to the plant as usual according to the label on each cup. The height of plants was also measured and recorded as well.

The condition of each plant is observed one by one. The first 2 cups of plants are healthy and look (bigger and taller) but the rest experience significant change due to different nutrients they had received. However, the third cup of the plant cannot be saved anymore as they are dead peacefully. hihi

First treatment - Two best plants is picked from each cup and the others are cut and thrown away . The plants are tied to skewers to support the plants and avoid them to not bend too much. The height of the plants is measured and recorded before the treatment. Different treatment is given to the plants according to the label:
T1: Complete fertilizer
T2: Lack of Nitrogen(N)
T3: Lack of Phosphorus(P)
T4: Lack of Potassium(K)
T5: Lack all of the nutrients

The treatment is dropped far from the stems using a dropper.

Seed begin to germinate and i removed the tissue papers from the cup. Then the side is moved near the window to get sunglight and carry out the process of photosynthesis. They use the process of photosynthesis to transform water, sunlight, and carbon dioxide into oxygen, and simple sugars that the plant uses as fuel.

These pictures are taken on the thirteenth day of the experiment. Here is the last and final progress of my plants. Both plants in the third cup are wilted while the rest still survived and are in very good condition especially plants in the first cup and the second cup. Meanwhile, both plants in the fourth and fifth cups have a slight change in the color and shape of their leaves. Their height also decreases.

Based on my observation, the plant start to show some changes. The plants' height in treatment 1 grows taller than others while the plants' height in treatment 2, 4 and 5 also increases. However, the plants in treatment 3 start to wilt and their height are stunted as their height is constant.

The growth and deficiency symptoms of the plants are observed and recorded. The plants' leaves in treatment 3 begin to turn dark and some purple spots appear on them. Their height is also stunted as their height does not increase. Meanwhile, the other plants are still growing very well but one of the plants' stems in treatment 4 seems to shrink.

On the first day of the experiment, the green bean seedlings were planted and watered. In the experiment, 5 seedlings were sown in each of the labelled polystyrene cup. There are 5 polystyrene cup all together which are labelled with treatment 1 to 5 respectively. T1 was labelled with (complete fertilizer), T2( lack of nitrogen), T3 (lack of phosphorus), T4 (lack of potassium) and T5 (lack all nutrients). The seedlings then watered with regular water and all of them were covered with tissues paper to enable the germination process of the seedlings occur.

First day of treatment. Before doing the treatment to the plants, the best two plants from each of the polystyrene cups are chose and the rest are cut using the scissors and disposed. Then, all the plants chose are tied with the wooden skewer in order to give support to the plants and prevent the plants from bending too much towards the sunlight (positive phototropism).

After that, the height of each of the plants are measured by using the ruler and all the results obtained is recorded. Later, all the plants are given the treatment according to their label particularly.

Treatment 1 (cup 1) : All the nutrients which are nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium were given to the plants (complete solutions).
Treatment 2 (cup 2) : The plants were given the phosphorus and potassium nutrients solutions but lack of nitrogen.
Treatment 3 (cup 3) : The plants were given the nitrogen and potassium nutrients solutions but lack of phosphorus.
Treatment 4 (cup4) : The plants were given the nitrogen and phosphorus nutrients solutions but lack of potassium.
Treatment 5 (cup 5) : The plants did not given all the nutrients. ( lack all the nutrients)

The volume of the nutrients solutions given is constant for every treatment days. For treatment 1, 2.5 ml of each nutrients solution (nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium) are given to the plants in the cup 1. The rest of the treatments were given 2 ml of each of the nutrients solutions used in the experiments (according to the type of treatment) to the plants by using the dropper. The plants were given the treatment every two days.

Today, the experiment has come to the end. The condition of the plants is observed again and all the data obtained are recorded. The results obtained are as the following:

Treatment 1 : Increase in height and size and grow healthily
Treatment 2 : The leaves turn the colour to the yellowish and the leaves also posseses small blade.
Treatment 3 : The plants wilt, stunted growth( height) , poor root growth and leaves turn dark green and dull colour.
Treatment 4 : Slight yellowing at the edge of the leaves and the plants are less turgid.

All the materials used are then disposed into the the garbage bin provided. The apparatus used also are cleaned and stored at the right place properly.
