And so I got one of my dogs and took her on a walk through South March Highlands, a forested area near my house. I also made sure to bring a reusable glass water bottle instead of grabbing a disposable plastic one. Although it's not much, I figured that every little effort counts. I lost power for over 10 hours and the forest in my backyard was a mess from falling branches. This weekend my family and I took the opportunity to get outside in the nice weather to do some yard work. We cleaned out the forest in my backyard and with all the branches that fell we collected about 37 yard waste bags full of branches and leaves. - Meaghan Gray

The birds have started singing again and we even saw a few fish in the Mississippi River. With it, I attached an article about how we can reduce use of non-reuseable plastic. There are plenty of items we use and forget about but in culmination have a can have very negative impacts on the Environment, such as coffee cups and Q-tips.  Americans use 500 million drinking straws every day (I cannot find statistics about Canada, I imagine they are quite comparable). Brought my sister home from her post secondary studies. Brought clothes that were no longer fitting our family to a value village, to get reused. Spring cleaned out house, and placed things to were they could be reused.
