· Needs to include something about the
environment: Is Murray Bridge home to any endangered animals that may need our
help? What is being done about them now? Why are they endangered?

•	The Murray Darling Basin is home to a wide range of animals and plants. It includes at least 35 endangered species of birds, 16 species of endangered mammals and 35 endangered native species of fish. Unfortunately, 20 species of mammals that lived in the Murray Darling Basin are already extinct.

•	Many of the native plants and animals are protected in national parks and other reserves which comprise about 7 percent of the basins total area.

•	The Basin has over 30,000 wetlands, some of them are listed internationally for their importance to migrating birds who visit these wetlands and others within the Basin from other parts of Australia and overseas.

•	An animal that really needs our help is the Corroboree Frog. This animal lives in only a tiny part of the world, and that is in a small region called Corroboree located on the very edge of the Murray Darling Basin, New South Wales. This frog has become endangered due to habitat destruction, bush fires, feral animals, recreational use and droughts. This frog’s endangerment level is Critically High (CR) so this little frog could really use a hand.

· Needs to be about water as a
resource, how much do we have: Does Murray Bridge get most of their water from
the Murray River? How do they collect it and how do they use it?

•	Murray Bridge and other areas along the Murray River mostly use the water from the Murray River for irrigation. An annual average of approximately 3,780 GL (Giga Litres) is currently diverted from rivers to irrigate a total of 4700 square kilometres of land. This water is collected from the Murray River by massive pumps that pump the water out of the Murray, into the irrigation channels so the water can be used.
