I choose to read John Green's novel because he is one of my most favorite novelists who I admire. Looking for Alaska is his first novel that was published in 2005 which also became a New York Times Best Seller List in 2012. The amount of awards that this novel received also made me interested to read thoroughly. (Kafka on the Shore, a tour de force of metaphysical reality, is powered by two remarkable characters: a teenage boy, Kafka Tamura, who runs away from home either to escape a gruesome oedipal prophecy or to search for his long-missing mother and sister; and an aging simpleton called Nakata, who never recovered from a wartime affliction and now is drawn toward Kafka for reasons that, like the most basic activities of daily life, he cannot fathom. Their odyssey, as mysterious to them as it is to us, is enriched throughout by vivid accomplices and mesmerizing events. Cats and people carry on conversations, a forest harbors soldiers apparently unaged since World War II, and rainstorms of fish (and worse) fall from the sky. There is a brutal murder, with the identity of both victim and perpetrator a riddle—yet this, along with everything else, is eventually answered, just as the entwined destinies of Kafka and Nakata are gradually revealed, with one escaping his fate entirely and the other given a fresh start on his own). I was like totally interesting in choosing this novel. 

Actually I am still in the process of reading, I am still in around 65% of finishing my reading. One thing that make this book surprises me is the bravery of Kafka in his very young age, and the opposite thing which make me confused is about the riddle. But, Murakami is special. He can talk about destiny in one paragraph, suddenly throw it and talk about imperfection and diversity the next. It’s kind of messy at times, but still extremely solid. It’s like he’s building everything in multiples of thoughts that make confusion as a constant. But when you walk through those words, you'll find that your confusion is more of feeling than its actual state of mind. You understand what he is talking perfectly, but you really can’t put into words the emotion inside you. So what I am saying is this novel is stunning in a rarely way.

My favorite words from this book is when it told me about what the fate is, and this book stated that:  
“Sometimes fate is like a small sandstorm that keeps changing directions. You change direction but the sandstorm chases you. You turn again, but the storm adjusts. Over and over you play this out, like some ominous dance with death just before dawn. Why? Because this storm isn't something that blew in from far away, something that has nothing to do with you. This storm is you. Something inside of you. So all you can do is give in to it, step right inside the storm, closing your eyes and plugging up your ears so the sand doesn't get in, and walk through it, step by step. There's no sun there, no moon, no direction, no sense of time. Just fine white sand swirling up into the sky like pulverized bones. That's the kind of sandstorm you need to imagine. 
And you really will have to make it through that violent, metaphysical, symbolic storm. No matter how metaphysical or symbolic it might be, make no mistake about it: it will cut through flesh like a thousand razor blades. People will bleed there, and you will bleed too. Hot, red blood. You'll catch that blood in your hands, your own blood and the blood of others.
And once the storm is over you won't remember how you made it through, how you managed to survive. You won't even be sure, in fact, whether the storm is really over. But one thing is certain. When you come out of the storm you won't be the same person who walked in. That's what this storm's all about.”

I found those words in the opening chapter but not the very first one if I am not mistaken, and those words are amazing. Why I choose this novel because at the first time I saw the cover I found it interesting and also the title made me curios. As long I read this novel I can say it’s imaginative story because the companion as the animals may be happened but not everybody has. I like also how the writers described the things with beautiful words that I hadn’t known before so I can improve my vocabulary. In addition, this novel gave me great moral story that we must not bully others like we do not have any mistakes or bad things in our life.

If it were not for Evan Woods, Remy Montogomery would have been found dead at the bottom of the Hudson River, crush by rocks from suicide.

This story told us about a young little girl named Remy Montogomery who lived in an orphanage and she is suffering a depression and trauma since her parents died in a car accident seven years ago. Because of that, she tried to kill herself and she wanted to jump into a cliff. When she wanted to jump into the cliff, her friend Evan Woods told not to jump into the cliff. He said to give him ten days for him give his reasons why she should not die. 

I knew this novel from my friends’ recommendation. This is one of the sweetest books that I have ever read because Evan always helped Remy when she got bullied by her friends at school. The storyline is interesting and talk about mental health issues especially depression and trauma. Also, this novel taught us that you should not give up on your dream and you should not never feel alone because there will be people who care about you.

The conflicts that are presented in this story are quite light and is not a class of story that will make the reader think hard because apart from the conflicts that are not heavy, the plot and the language are light. However, even though the story is lightened, the author spices up this story a little with some serious topics such as mental health, bullying, and religious tolerance.

I like how Diane and Elijah West who have different characters naturally adjust to each other so that they slowly become harmonious. The author also adds comedy elements to this story through the actions and words of Elijah West who have the most unique character in this story.

How to love and treat a horse that at that time was very meritorious as a means of transportation. The reason why I chose this book is because I have been trying to read Murakami's works. I started last year with 1Q84 and ever since captivated by the way Murakami writes his fiction. 

His fiction feels so ecstatic in a way that it swallowed me whole to his surrealism world. The metaphors left me in wonder as if it's a vague and reality-shifting yet vivid and peculiarly beautiful in a same time. One day, I decided to scroll through the information of whom works my friend suggested to read the day before, assuredly Haruki Murakami’s!. Whilst I was being engaged to some top-recommended titles to read, this, truly, radiated something that I got to read. Was it because of that bright-yellow cover? Was it because of the title? Or was it because of that uncompleted silhouette? Yes, I might say those what made me attracted to this one of Haruki Murakami’s fictions. 

As a person who likes to predict and make a personal theory, I onetime prejudged this book by its cover. But here is a gentle reminder, do not judge a book by its cover, right?.

I predicted this book as its cover shows those three components that made me attracted before which were color, title, and illustration. I randomly monologued “why Men Without Women? Will this fiction give me stories of some couples? Since it is plural. Why is the man's silhouette incomplete as its puzzle is detached right on the ‘heart’ side? Oh, perhaps this story will show that a man’s life without a woman is just a vapid universe”. 

My prejudices were similarly right, this fiction provides the audience many chapters. Each chapter sticks such topic, a man without a woman, that has its own delivery, and as the reader itself concludes on how a man’s life without a woman. I highly recommend you this fiction!

First I thought I would not be interested in this book, but I was wrong, in chapter 3 I really wanted to read the next chapter immediately. When I read through Chapter 5, here it might be like the beginning or introduction of several characters in this book, then each chapter has a different plot. if chapter 1 has a plot going forward and chapter 2 has a plot going backwards in talking about the past. But because there are so many different mind-breakers and plots, it makes me a little confused .
But overall, I love how Murakami makes the plots.
