The story tackles diversity: each character (circle, square...) is different and has different abilities and difficulties.

We can use the story to make children reflect on their own abilities and difficulties and that everyone is different. It is the first step towards empathy.


An activity they can do is creating a new character for the story themselves and thinking of what abilities and difficulties it might have. They can make the character using paper and make an exhibition of new characters.

That is important for our students but it is also important for teachers. When creating the tasks of the course I enjoyed looking for songs, paints or creating stories. Creativity is a must when working as a teacher and we should include it in our lessons. Sometimes it is hard to find the right song or write a story, but we can look for inspiration, and when inspiration comes we can create amazing activities.

The tasks have been very inspiring, and it is surprising that combining Art and music with technology can be so enriching. I knew some of the tools, like Padlet. But I didn’t know other tools like Flipgrid, or hadn’t really used them (Genially) and they have been more difficult for me.  I have seen many changes in technology since I started to work:  when I started to work, some schools were still using cassettes or an overhead projector.

The activity of the emotional hut can be a nice way of reflecting for students. It is important to let students talk and reflect about their emotions. I loved creating the story about empathy, although it was hard to choose a topic and thing of an appropriate story.

Finally, thank you Elisa and Montse for the course. It is wonderful to have a course that deals with emotions and Art and music.
